The RAIDage JAGE9BT8HDSL-M1 is an external 8-bay SAS/SATA disk array storage tower engineered to deliver scalable, dependable storage for demanding data workloads. This compact tower is built to meet the needs of modern data centers, media studios, backups, virtualization hosts, and archival systems, providing a flexible solution that grows with your business. With support for 12Gb/s SAS and SATA/600 interfaces, you're equipped with robust performance and broad drive compatibility to handle large datasets, high I/O bursts, and long-term storage growth. The enclosure's sleek silver-and-black aesthetic combines professional design with practical engineering, making it suitable for server rooms, data centers, or office environments where both form and function matter.

One of the standout features of the JAGE9BT8HDSL-M1 is its 8-drive capacity in an external tower format. This design enables you to consolidate eight SAS or SATA drives into a single scalable volume, which is ideal for RAID configurations that balance speed, redundancy, and capacity. Whether you’re deploying RAID 0 for maximum performance, RAID 1 for mirroring critical data, or more advanced arrays like RAID 5/6/10 for a blend of performance and fault tolerance, this enclosure provides the backbone for reliable, protected storage. The external enclosure also simplifies physical deployment by freeing up internal drive bays in servers, while still offering direct, high-speed access to your drives via a dedicated host connection.

Performance and compatibility are at the core of the RAIDage design. The 12Gb/s SAS support ensures fast data transfer rates for high-throughput applications, while backward compatibility with SATA/600 ensures you can leverage a wide range of drives—from enterprise SAS drives to cost-effective SATA drives—without sacrificing capability. The Mini-SAS HD host interface, utilizing SFF-8644 connectors, provides a secure, high-bandwidth link to your server or RAID controller. This means you can maximize throughput across your storage pool while maintaining a clean cabling footprint, which is especially valuable in busy data centers or labs where space and organization matter.

Cooling and reliability are addressed with four quiet 80mm cooling fans. These fans are designed to maintain steady temperatures across all eight bays, helping to protect drive longevity and sustain performance during sustained I/O operations. A well-cooled storage environment reduces the risk of thermal throttling and drive failures, which translates into more consistent performance and lower maintenance costs over time. The enclosure’s physical build—compact, sturdy, and finished in a professional silver and black—supports demanding workloads while fitting neatly alongside other enterprise equipment in a rack or on a dedicated storage stand.

Beyond raw capacity and performance, the JAGE9BT8HDSL-M1 emphasizes ease of deployment and operational simplicity. It’s designed to be drop-in compatible with existing SAS/SATA environments, allowing IT staff to expand storage without major architectural changes. The external nature of the tower means you can scale storage independently of your servers, enabling straightforward capacity planning and rapid expansion as data needs grow. The balanced mix of high-speed backplane, flexible drive support, and solid cooling makes this enclosure a practical choice for ongoing data protection, backups, and large-scale media workflows where quick access to a large pool of disks matters.

In addition to capacity and performance, the enclosure supports common data management practices used in modern IT environments. By presenting eight drives as a single, manageable pool, it enables straightforward RAID configuration and simplifies monitoring through standard RAID controllers and management software. This means IT teams can implement redundancy schemes, perform hot data caching, and maintain a well-organized storage topology without adding complexity to the server infrastructure. The combination of robust connectors, solid cooling, and a clean industrial design makes the RAIDage JAGE9BT8HDSL-M1 a versatile building block for a variety of storage architectures, from on-site backups to light-to-moderate virtualization workloads.

How to Install RAIDage JAGE9BT8HDSL-M1

  • Prepare eight SAS or SATA drives that are compatible with your RAID controller and service level requirements. Ensure you have the correct drive types and capacities for your planned RAID configuration.
  • Open the enclosure and install drives into the eight drive bays using compatible drive trays or tool-less trays as supported by the chassis. Secure each drive properly to ensure a stable connection and vibration management during operation.
  • Connect the enclosure to your server or RAID controller using a Mini-SAS HD cable (SFF-8644). Ensure the cable is firmly seated in both the enclosure and the host interface.
  • Power on the enclosure and boot your server. Access your RAID controller software or operating system storage management tools to initialize the drives and create your desired RAID array across the eight bays.
  • Configure monitoring and alerts as needed. Set up health checks for temperature, fan speed, and drive status to maintain reliability and performance over time. Regularly review drive SMART data and firmware updates for your drives and enclosure components.

A winning toy!
Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel, Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel
This is the best dog toy ever! I have a Cockapoo that is 8 years old but thinks she is 2. She chews up everything so I've gone thru a lot of dog toys. This toy has lasted 6 months - truly record breaking for her. It's become all raggy so time to get a new one. Thank you Nocciola for inventing a quality fun toy that lasts. Photo shows toy after 6 mo. of playing tug of war!

Winner of the aggressive chew competition
Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel
I bought several toys for an insane Jack Russell and this is the unlikely winner. It is a softer toy, but it is stitched together nicely and there are various components that distract the dog and keep him busy. First, it can be rolled up and stuck with small but strong Velcro patches, so it’s not just a sitting duck, the dog has to figure out how to unroll it which is fun. Next there are five little pockets on one side that you can put treats inside, which draw attention to the toy and give him another task. He did partially rip some of the flaps on the pockets in his zeal to get the treats. Then there is the squeaker, which he dispatched of in like 4 seconds (somehow without ripping the fabric(?)), then there are all sorts of crinkles and textures on both sides. All of this and the good stitching make it a toy he wants to play with but that he doesn’t annihilate in one day. The hard plastic toys are also good but I feel like I need to watch him carefully for fear that a sharp chunk will come off. The medium chew toys are cool but he’s just not into them. So this wins!

My dogs favorite toy!
Color: Blue & Yellow Eel Bundle
This is my Jack Chi and Yorkies favorite toys (it helps when they get 5 mini milk bones). It is a tough toy, but not impervious to a Jack Chi determination to remove all squeekiees! Squeekie or not, it's still their favorite toy for tug-a-war.

Fun Toy
Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel, Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel
My dog loves this toy. It has 2 squeaky & also has crinkly sound along with the slots for treats. However it is not very durable. The treat slots were pretty much destroyed with the first use. I'm still giving it a 4 star because it is so fun & entertaining for my GSD.

Kept puppy interested!... Till she chewed it apart in 5 minutes
Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel, Color: No Stuffing Blue Eel
I'll start off by saying this is a really unique toy. You really can hide treats in the pocket and the velcro is strong enough to roll it up that it won't come undone easily. The different textures and sounds interest my puppy! And she LOVES it! But it didn't last long with her. She LOVES rope toys and ripping them apart and eating it. I literally had just given it to her and not even a minute later (not joking), she had torn off a row of the rope-like part. 5 minutes later, the tail is already in shambles lol So long story short, great and interesting toy to keep the doggy from being bored. Maybe not so great for aggressive chewers/rippers in the long term. More than likely will be torn to shreds by the end of the day.
