This Ju-bako box is based on the stackable boxes used for traditional osechi cuisine, and is expertly made from Amakusa porcelain with an inban-printed blue stripe pattern. Two or more boxes, when stacked, make for a surprising way to serve Japanese or other types of cuisine. These small dishes are also perfect for offering snacks or appetisers to your guests.

Selector's Notes

Inban printing is a traditional Japanese print method, that uses transfer paper and coloured ink to stamp patterns onto the object's surface. Requiring great skill and patience, it is believed that the method transmits a human-touch to the object, lacking with modern machine-printing techniques.
