The Allied Telesis x950-28XSQ Layer 3 Switch is engineered for the modern enterprise core, delivering massive data throughput, intelligent routing, and resilient design that sustains business-critical operations. As part of the x950 Series, this switch is built to support high-density 100 Gigabit connectivity and stacking-enabled architectures, making it an ideal foundation for central data centers, campus cores, and distributed networks that power Smart City and IoT initiatives. IT teams will appreciate its scalable performance, robust security features, and streamlined management that together reduce operational complexity while increasing network reliability. In environments where uptime and predictable latency matter—think real-time analytics, video conferencing, and large-scale virtualization—the x950-28XSQ stands out as a trusted backbone device that grows with your organization.

  • Seamless Layer 3 routing and advanced QoS — The x950-28XSQ delivers robust Layer 3 routing capabilities, enabling efficient inter-VLAN routing, dynamic routing protocols, and policy-based traffic control. Administrators can design granular quality of service policies that prioritize business-critical applications, guarantee predictable latency for real-time traffic, and minimize jitter across the enterprise core. With granular ACLs, traffic shaping, and flexible VLAN segmentation, you can enforce security boundaries and optimize application performance across a multi-layer network.
  • 100 Gigabit connectivity for bandwidth-intensive workloads — Built to handle the demanding needs of modern data centers and edge networks, this switch supports 100 GbE connectivity for uplinks and high-speed interconnects. Whether linking core switches, aggregating data from storage arrays, or connecting high-performance compute resources, the x950-28XSQ ensures ample bandwidth headroom to support virtualization, AI-driven analytics, and large-scale IoT data streams without bottlenecks.
  • Stacking and resilience for scalable core fabrics — The x950 Series is designed with stacking in mind, enabling multiple switches to operate as a single, logical unit. This architecture simplifies management, increases port density, and provides fault tolerance—if one unit in the stack encounters an issue, the stack continues to forward traffic, preserving network availability. Stacking also makes it easier to scale capacity as your organization grows, without disrupting ongoing operations or requiring complex reconfiguration.
  • IoT and Smart City readiness for distributed networks — Enterprises and city-scale deployments benefit from a switch that can handle vast arrays of IoT sensors, cameras, and edge devices. The x950-28XSQ supports scalable VLANs, secure management, and programmable interfaces that streamline centralized control across campus networks or city infrastructure. Low-latency switching, consistent policy enforcement, and reliable throughput help maintain real-time monitoring and analytics across dispersed deployments.
  • Security, management simplicity, and energy efficiency — This switch blends enterprise-grade security features, such as ACLs and controlled management access, with a user-friendly management interface to simplify configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. In addition, energy-efficient design reduces power consumption without compromising performance, delivering lower total cost of ownership for large-scale deployments across data centers, campuses, or municipal networks.

how to install Allied Telesis x950-28XSQ Layer 3 Switch

  • Plan and verify requirements — Before installation, confirm your rack space, power availability, cooling, and cabling plan. Ensure you have suitable stacking plan if you intend to deploy multiple x950 units as a single fabric. Review your IP addressing, VLAN design, and routing strategy to minimize rework after installation.
  • Rack-mount and cabling — Mount the switch securely in a standard 19-inch rack using the provided rack ears or rails. Route power and network cables neatly to promote airflow and facilitate future maintenance. Use high-quality fiber or copper cables that match your intended 100 GbE uplinks and 10/40/25 GbE connections if supported by your deployment.
  • Initial power-on and console access — Power up the device and connect a management workstation to the console or management port. Establish console access and verify the console session is stable. Load the latest firmware when possible to ensure you have the newest security patches and performance enhancements.
  • First-time configuration — Perform the initial configuration to set up management access, IP addressing, and basic security. Configure a management VLAN, apply strong admin credentials, disable unused services, and enable essential security features. If you are stacking, configure the stack peers and establish the master unit to coordinate management and forwarding across the fabric.
  • Routing, QoS, and security policies — Implement Layer 3 routing with your chosen protocols (static or dynamic), define inter-VLAN routing rules, and apply QoS policies to prioritize critical applications. Create ACLs to isolate sensitive devices and enforce security across the network. Validate access control, verify that policy-based routing is functioning, and test failover scenarios within the stack.
  • Monitoring, maintenance, and updates — Enable SNMP or your preferred network monitoring framework, set up syslog, and configure regular firmware updates. Establish a change management process and maintain a current backup of the configuration. Schedule routine health checks for port status, temperature, and power usage to ensure ongoing reliability.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Baby bumps and bodyguards
Format: Kindle
Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly tender, Not Ready is an omegaverse romance that delivers found family feels, fierce protectiveness, and a very pregnant heroine who refuses to break. Vale’s on the run from a stalker, but lands in the arms of three private security alphas, cue the swoony tension, fake marriage twist, and slow-burn heat. It’s a little gritty, a little soft, and a whole lot addictive. If you love protective alphas, high stakes, and heroines with quiet strength, this one’s a must-read.
