By: Sam Dolbear, Esther Leslie | Series: Goldsmiths Press / Sonics SeriesAn investigation of the cultures and technologies of early radio and how a generation of cultural operators—with Schoen at the center—addressed crisis and adversity.
Dials, knobs, microphones, clocks; heads, hands, breath, voices. Ernst Schoen joined Frankfurt Radio in the 1920s as programmer and accelerated the potentials of this collision of bodies and technologies. As with others of his generation, Schoen experienced crisis after crisis, from the violence of war, the suicide of friends, economic collapse, and a brief episode of permitted experimentalism under the Weimar Republic for those who would foster aesthetic, technical, and political revolution. The counterreaction was Nazism—and Schoen and his milieux fell victim to it, found ways out of it, or hit against it with all their might.
Dissonant Waves tracks the life of Ernst Schoen—poet, composer, radio programmer, theorist, and best friend of Walter Benjamin from childhood—as he moves between Frankfurt, Berlin, Paris, and London. It casts radio history and practice into concrete spaces, into networks of friends and institutions, into political exigencies and domestic plights, and into broader aesthetic discussions of the politicization of art and the aestheticization of politics. Through friendship and comradeship, a position in state-backed radio, imprisonment, exile, networking in a new country, re-emigration, ill-treatment, neglect, Schoen suffers the century and articulates its broken promises.
An exploration of the ripples of radio waves, the circuits of experimentation and friendship, and the proposals that half-found a route into the world—and might yet spark political-technical experimentation.

Great toy
Great size for a medium to large dog and a good value overall. The carrot foliage is made of felt and can tear easily, but the carrot body and bunnies have typical toy durability. The bunnies include squeakers that are softer and not high-pitched. The holes are sized well—small enough that the bunnies don’t fall out on their own. Even with only a few stuffed inside, they stay put until your dog pulls them out.

I was shocked by how much my daughter's puppy enjoyed this toy!
I've bought two of these — one for my grand puppy to use when she's at my house, and another for her to keep at her house. I was shocked that she actually seems to enjoy playing with this toy! She hunts out all the bunnies and then brings the carrot to me to refill. I refill it, and then she takes the refilled carrot back to her spot and hunts them all out again. If I can't find one of the bunnies (because it's gotten stuck in the couch cushion, for example), I ask her "where's the bunny?" and she helps me find it! This dog is a ferocious chewer but she doesn't chew these toys! It's like she instinctively knows they are for hunting, not chewing. As a result, they have lasted a long time and provide hours of quality fun. Great value!

My Iggies LOVE this toy. Buy it!!!!!
As a new dog mom to Italian greyhounds, I wasn’t sure if they’d like this, but it is their favorite toy!!!! They LOVE playing with the rabbits, chewing on them, squishing them, flinging them and chasing them. My one iggy likes to chew on the carrot and stick her nose in it when it’s empty. I find the rabbits around the house. So cute and seems to be well made. Definitely worth the cost.

Very cute and well loved dog toy.
I have two maltese rescue dogs. One if still a puppy and the other is almost 5 years old. The youngest one is a chewer and goes through toys removing whatever she can as soon as she can. This is a VERY cute toy and comes with the 4 cute bunnies inside. My older dog loves to take the bunnies and cuddle them in her bed. So far the chewer has not been able to take them apart and for that I am very pleased. Very well made, stiched well. I was reluctant at first to purchase because of price, but I believe this is good value for your money.

Cool toy.
Each animal has a squeaker so it makes it good for chewing and retrieving. The squeakers dont last long g enough I use it now to stuff other squeakers in. I won’t ut again.
