artist biography
Yngve Sigurd Ferdinand Nilsson was born 11 February, 1912 in Stoby, Kristianstad. He was a Swedish painter and writer.

He studied briefly at  Otte Skölds målarskola (painting school) in Stockholm in 1945 and later at Erik Clemmesen’s painting school in Copenhagen in 1950, otherwise pursuing his training largely through self-study. From 1947 onwards he undertook repeated study trips to Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands.

Nilsson held solo exhibitions in Kristianstad in 1941, 1949 and 1960, and during the 1950s he lived mainly in West Germany, for the longest period in Bad Godesberg. There he participated in a number of group shows and presented a solo exhibition in 1954. He is best known for landscapes in oil and pastel, as well as large-scale works in glass mosaic. Notable commissions in Sweden include the oil painting Vägen (1949)  and a wall painting (1955) for the Ebenezer Church in Hässleholm. In Germany, his works include mosaics for Die Sparkasse in Düren (1958) and for the secondary school in Bad Honnef (1959), as well as a monumental oil painting for the Bremer Baumwollbörse in Bremen (1958).

Alongside his visual art, Nilsson also published two collections of poetry: Vrakspillror (1936) and Aska och glöd (1949). He was a member of the Bonner Künstlergruppe.

He passed away in 1993 at the age of 81.

A Book for our Times
Format: Kindle
This book has excellent advice for all Christians, as well as those not sure of what the Bible says. The passages, illustrations, scriptures are presented logically, Biblically, and hold much wisdom. I enjoyed the encouragement, practical steps that all can use.

Diverse Worship--Make A Joyful Noise Unto The Lord All Ye Lands
Format: Hardcover
I love this beautifully illustrated story. Children and adults, too, learn God's vision for His church—true worship. Author Dorena Williamson presents an image of a church no longer divided by race, culture, or style of worship. Instead, the church is a gathering of God's people celebrating who He is and all He has done. Also included are author notes suggesting ways to share the importance of embracing and celebrating God's diverse world with children.

We Are Better Together
Format: Hardcover
One Sunday morning when all the Sunday school classes landed in a heap for a multi-generational assembly followed by muffins, I read aloud from The Celebration Place, Dorena Williamson’s anthem to the Body of Christ gathered. How refreshing to share the truth that worship (and worshipers!) will look and participate differently in other places! Here in rural Maine where a choir is as rare a sight as a brown face, Erin Bennett Banks’s vivid illustrations enriched the text, and I was pleased to hear adult chuckles accompanying the page about rappers “nodding to the beat” while “old folks stomp their feet.” Together, author and illustrator announce the church as “no longer a divided space. Now it’s a celebration place!” With so many fractures in our world upon which we can distance and divide, the pursuit of unity in the Body of Christ is difficult but crucial. The work toward delightful diversity done today in God’s House is affirmation of the truth that we are better together, and it is preparation for the day when we will join with all nations God has made to glorify his name, for he is great and worthy of our celebration. Many thanks to IVP Kids for providing a copy of this book to facilitate my review, which is, of course, offered freely and with honesty.
