El maestro cuatrista MATEO GOYO, fue un defensor a ultranza de la música tocuyana.

Sostenía que, para ejecutar el Golpe Tocuyano, el cuatro tenía que tener una cuerda más.

Por esta razón colocaba después de la cuarta, una segunda octavada, con la finalidad de brindarle más sonoridad y brillantez al sonido. Y escuchando este instrumento se lo puede comprobar.

Tiene un sonido potentísimo aunque, por su tamaño, un tono más brillante que los cuatros tradicionales cuyo sonido es más "pastoso".

Fabricado íntegramente en madera de cedro, tiene 5 cuerdas y el clavijero original tocuyano con las primitivas clavijas de madera dura.

Permanece en el mismo estuche duro en que me lo vendió en 1976.

I ordered this in march just started to use it. I’m not sure if I got a bad batch according to reviews, however it’s like rubbing on sand paper it leaves a white residue on your skin .
