Nearly all emeralds have surface-reaching fissures. Natural emeralds with no surface-reaching fissures can be very valuable, due to their rarity. Most emeralds undergo a routine oiling that fills surface-reaching fissures, improving their appearance. The degree to which they're oiled can affect the emerald's value.
This beautiful platinum ring features a 1.62 carat natural Zambian emerald surrounded by approximately 1.00 carat of round brilliant cut diamonds. The emerald has a stunning rich green color and has been routinely oiled to improve its appearance.

The mounting is presently a size 6 1/2 and has a gross weight of 10.6 grams. It's stamped "PLAT" and has been verified platinum via XRF analysis. The shank does have several superficial cracks that don't affect the integrity of the mounting at all, nor do they poke your finger when worn.
