artist biography
Johny Levi Sigvard Colebring , born February 26, 1920 in Asby , Östergötland was a Swedish painter and graphic artist .
Colebring studied at Valands konstskola in Gothenburg and during study trips to abroad to France and Italy.
He had a number of solo exhibitions including ones in Gothenburg and Visby, and participated in a number of group exhibitions at the Konsthallen in Gothenburg, Liljevalch's konsthall and in Antibes in France. Colebring has painted landscape and still life works in oil or tempera and created colour woodcut prints.
Among his public art he painted is a mural in SJ's Sports Hall in Gothenburg. Examples of his work are held at the National Museum in Stockholm and Gothenburg Art Museum.
Colebring passed away in 2003 aged 83.
