The Lighthouse Keeper ...

He wanders the rocky shore and sandy beaches for ocean treasures and washed up relics - sorting thru the pinecones and seaweed that have been gifted by the encompassing forest and waters.

His face is weathered, worn by the wind and refined by the salt air and sea spray.
He keeps himself comforted with his trusty wool peacoat, sailor's cap and a pipe that never seems to be without it's clouds of smoke.

He's, generally, a quiet keeper - diligently tending the light and preserving the house in perfect working order - but find him in an unusually chatty state or perhaps after his day's work is done, his flask in hand, and you'll be treated to one of his many colorful stories.

Stories that always begin with this peculiar and thought-provoking anecdote :

"Now, there's the law of the sea, and there's the lure of the sea - not to be confused with the lore of the sea - though more often than not, they find themselves in the same boat."

His name is McLeen and he is the beloved keeper of the Ivers Light.

Much like the Ivers Lighthouse, this Storyteller piece conjures the classic image of old New England lights.

Closely resembling the exposed stone exterior with its subtle hints of age and patina, hand-wired micro-faceted white Agate breaks into jet black wood rondelles and is completed with a bit of vintage brass chain.

The surface of the vintage escutcheon is pitted - perhaps from years of being at the mercy of the elements.
And the antique skeleton key bares a bit of rust as well.

The necklace measures 26" long including the lobster claw clasp. The key measures 1-1/2" long.
