Reines fécondées
Cette année marque le début de notre projet d’élevage de reines chez Les Reines des Appalaches, développé à petite échelle dans le cadre d’une initiation à la recherche avec notre stagiaire universitaire Rosye, en association avec Les Essaims Savoyards.
Notre approche repose sur une sélection rigoureuse et une volonté d’apprendre et de maîtriser chaque étape de cette discipline exigeante qu’est l’élevage de reines.
Pour cette première saison, nous misons sur nos colonies de production de faux-bourdons que nous avons mises en place en 2025 avec quatre souches provenant de deux producteurs québécois impliqués en sélection génétique avec le Centre de recherches en sciences animales de Deschambault (CRSAD). Ces mâles féconderont in vivo nos reines sélectionnées dans un environnement isolé des autres colonies, permettant un pool génétique exempt de caractères non désirés. Lisez ici pourquoi il est important de privilégier de jeunes reines d'élevage fécondées pour votre cheptel.
Nos colonies-mères (3 cette année) ont été choisies pour plusieurs qualités recherchées :

excellente adaptation à la réalité nordique (élévation dans les Etchemins),

très bon hivernement,

faible consommation hivernale,

bonne reprise printanière,

vigueur des colonies,
-
qualité de ponte,
-
douceur,
-
comportement VSH.
Nous aurons les lignées suivantes (découvrez chez-vous dans votre cheptel comment elles se comportent)

Toutes nos reines sont observées en ponte avant leur mise en cagette. Elles sont marquées (si vous souhaitez ne pas les avoir marquées, veuillez nous en aviser à la réservation).
Cette première année de production ne vise pas le volume, mais bien la qualité, la rigueur et le développement de bases solides pour les années à venir. Les quantités disponibles seront donc limitées.

Defective toy and inconsistent quality.

My initial review was 5 stars based on my experience with a previous order (blue raccoon) and the fact my puppy was immediately interested in it. However, I did not give it to her to play with until this past Friday (May 21, 2026) because she had the first one I bought. In a matter of 2 days the seam on the back and at the base of the head unraveled and all of the stuffing was scattered all over the room. I thought I’d found some good, high quality, toys for her but apparently this one was defective because the first one had had a lot of use and I’d still in decent shape. This is too much money to pay for a dog toy that only lasts a day or two so be advised they aren’t all good.

Bigger, louder, crinklier, softer, than expected!

My dog was gifted a collection of used toys and he really likes a very long stuffed pig which, unfortunately, another dog that is a destructive chewer, totally destroyed. I decided to break down and buy him another long stuffed toy today and since he's always blissfully watching rabbits in the yard and neighborhood I chose the rabbit version. This thing is huge which is great for him- he's 62 lbs and 7 months old and only half grown. He loves it, it has multiple LOUD squeakers, lots of crinkly spots, and fun ears/legs to grab hold off. He's a big fan and it's made with K9 Tuff Guard which LASTS. Super soft and easy to wash.
Update after 2 months- easy to wash and looks new after a washing. very durable so far, standing up to indoor and outdoor use. He is not a destructive chewer but whips them around, tramples on them, steps on them while running top speed and chomps on the annoying squeaker for hours. one squeaker has a hole and its tune is now slightly muted (thank god)

It’s been several months and all 3 still intact!
I have to be very selective because MOST toys labled recommended for “aggressive chewer” last about 20 minutes. Not kidding. These are the real deal. I’ve had these for several months now and all 3 are shockingly still completely intact and look like they did the day I got them.
