Story

Well, here I am looking at Solstice 2008 and remembering winters in Two Mile, near Hazelton, B.C. As children, we spent many an evening under a streetlight on an icy road, or preferably on a frozen pond with candles all around playing hockey with frozen horse manure for a puck, T. Eaton catalogs for shin pads, and whatever we could find or make for hockey sticks. There was always a good fire nearby when we were too cold.

This past year we spent a wonderful evening at Bearclaw Ranch that I've described before in other stories. As I sat watching people playing on a frozen sheet of ice that our family friends, the Alan's had put together, I wondered how the simple winter game had stood the test of time. Today with all that is happening in the world, to strike fear into our hearts when we sit and watch the local news, it is comforting to know we can shut the TV off and get outside and play. We can hear sounds muffled by the snow, skates sliding on the ice, and laughter among friends; these things are what I've come to know as warmth in the cold of winter.

So for Solstice 2008, It is good to know that through all the changes, those things that make a difference, peace, joy, and love will always remain the same.

Great reference
Format: Paperback
I used this reference a good but when I was new to practice in a walk-in clinic. From animal bites to corneal abrasions to toenail avulsions, it gave concise treatment recommendations that helped me through my cases. While I need to rely on it a lot less now, I did purchase this to update an older edition and I’ve been equally happy with it

Terrific resource
I work in an urgent care and have been practicing for a little over a year now. This is the perfect resource! I love the ebook option as well with videos that walk you through some procedures. I would definitely recommend buying this if you are a new provider or new to an urgent care setting!

This has been handy

I am a new Nurse Practitioner working in an urgent care, often on my own. This has been an excellent resource. Who knew someone with a dog bite on their tongue would come in.

Great book
Format: Paperback
I worked in a setting where I was the only nurse for hundreds of inmates in a Max prison. I used this book to assist me in providing care to patients with their emergencies. It helped me decide how to handle situations where I had to intelligently explain a medical issue to a on call MD or chart in a correct manner. This was my own personal book and glad to have it. I believe I initially found the title from a ER MD who recommended it. This is the updated copy, I gave my old copy to a non medical neighbor who found it useful.
