The Tower is the fourth major expansion for the Carcassonne game, introducing tower segments and new gameplay actions. Instead of placing a Meeple as usual, players can now choose to:

Place a tower segment on a tile with space for a tower

Add a segment to an existing tower

Place a Meeple on top of a tower, thereby "finishing" it.

Building a tower allows you to capture other players' Meeples, as long as they are within view of the tower in an orthogonal direction. The height of the tower determines its range: a tower that is 1 segment high can capture Meeples within 1 tile, a 2-segment tower within 2 tiles, and so on. Captured Meeples result in a loss of whatever points they might have earned, and players must pay 3 victory points if they wish to free their captured Meeple.
