He has a pair of black socks slung over his shoulder and a camel stick in his hand. These knitted socks are worn in the sands during the winter and the summer in order to insulate the feet against very cold or very hot sand. The man wears a thobe (long shirt) and a headscarf (ghutra), and has a khanjar (dagger) tucked into his belt. Behind the man is a flat plain of rocky sand, almost bare of vegetation. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.

Color is awesome but material isn’t.

The color is pretty much as advertised. I wear a 33 so I order up a size and they were both too long and too big. Instead of returning them I washed them and put them in the dryer. The length after washing turned out perfect but the waist is still a little too big. It should also be noted that the quality of the material isn’t the best. After washing them this is how the pockets will look. You have to iron them each time to get them flat again. I would buy again because of the variety of colors but only at a cheaper price.
