Description

Polymaker Fiberon PA6-GF25 Nylon Glass Fibre 1.75mm Filament 500g (Previously Polymide)Fiberon is polymakers family of fibre reinforced composite filaments developed to provide outstanding mechanical performance for a range of engineering applications. Fiberon PA6 GF25 is an industrial glass fibre reinforced PA6 (Nylon 6) filament featuring 25% chopped glass fibres by weight. The material exhibits excellent thermal and mechanical properties without sacrificing the layer adhesion like with many other glass fibre reinforced filaments.

Fiberon™ is polymakers family of fibre-reinforced composite filaments developed to provide outstanding mechanical performance for a range of engineering applications.

Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 is an industrial glass fibre reinforced PA6 (Nylon 6) filament featuring 25% chopped glass fibres by weight. The material exhibits excellent thermal and mechanical properties without sacrificing the layer adhesion like with many other glass-fibre reinforced filaments. This is achieved through Polymakers Fibre-Adhesion™ technology which optimises the surface chemistry of the fibres to achieve better dispersion and bonding to the Nylon 6 matrix and delivers an outstanding filament for functional applications. Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 offers an excellent cost-to-performance ratio for many end-use and functional applications.

Features

  • Excellent Stiffness & Strength - Featuring a tensile modulus up to 5.3 GPA on the XY axis and 3.3 GPA on the Z axis, Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 combines excellent stiffness and toughness to deliver a versatile and high performance filament for a wide variety of high performance and dry industrial or engineering applications[1].
  • Excellent Heat Resistance - Featuring a heat deflection temperature of up to 191°C after annealing[2], Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 can be used to print parts working in a wide temperature range and has been utilised to create custom lab equipment working at temperatures as low as -190°C.
  • Outstanding Layer Adhesion - Most fibre reinforced materials show a decrease in z-axis layer adhesion when compared with their non-fibre reinforced Nylons, producing a part that is only stronger on the X-Y axis but detrimental to the Z axis. Fibre-Adhesion™ technology not only solves this problem but actually increases Z axis tensile strength creating more isotropic parts that are strong in every direction.
  • Warp-Free™ - Warp-Free™ technology enables the production of Nylon-based filaments that can be 3D printed with excellent dimensional stability and near-zero warpage. This is achieved by the fine control of microstructure and crystallisation behaviour of Nylon, which enables the material to fully release the internal stress before solidification. The Warp-Free™ technology is designed to work best with minimal bed temperatures.
  • Wear Resistant and Tough - Parts printed in Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 display excellent strength and wear resistant properties.
  • Improved Printability – Unlike many other Nylon filaments, Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 is extremely easy to work with, exhibiting excellent dimensional stability. It is compatible with most filament-based 3D printers with no heated bed or chamber required!
  • Uncompromised Quality - Polymakers leading quality control process and rigorous in-house testing ensure reliable printing and consistency across spools and batches.

[1] Most Nylon parts in the real world undergo a process called "Moisture conditioning" which improves toughness and flexibility of the Nylon while reducing tensile strength and stiffness. Unless protected with a moisture barrier, PA6-GF shows a greater change in mechanical properties when subjected to water / high humidity in comparison to long-chain nylon filaments like PA12-CF or PA612-CF. In simple terms PA6-GF will typically offer the best properties in a dry application, but for a wet or high humidity application a longer chain nylon such as PA612 or PA12 may be better. See "Specifications & FAQ" tab to learn more about what moisture conditioning is, how it works and if it's relevant to your application.
[2] Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 displays the best mechanical and thermal properties when fully crystallized. The printed part will not reach full crystallisation during the printing process, an additional step is required: Annealing. Fiberon™ PA6-GF25 can be annealed in the oven at 100˚C for 16 hours right after the printing process.

Physical Properties

Thermal Properties

Nylon is a semi-crystalline material, it's crystalline regions offer many properties, but in particular their structure deliver the heat resistance that nylon is known for. Annealing after printing is a critical process to achieve consistent crystallinity and complete the production process of nylon parts.

Mechanical Properties

  • Dry state represents when PA6-GF25 part is printed and annealed.
  • Wet state represents if the PA6-GF25 part were submerged in water for 48 hours.

If your part is exposed to reasonable humidity (70% RH) but isn't exposed to water, your part would become moisture conditioned. To enter the wet state would require very high humidity, steam or submersion.

Nylon 6 based materials are moisture sensitive and their mechanical properties change. As they absorb moisture the toughness and flexibility increase, while tensile strength and stiffness decrease. This process is not permanent, if the part were dried, it would regain strength and stiffness.

All PA6-GF25 specimens were printed with 300°C nozzle temperature, 50°C bed temperature, cooling fan OFF. Samples were printed with 100% infil, 2 shells and 3 top & bottom layers.

All samples were annealed after printing at 100°C for 16h.

READ BEFORE GIVING TO A CHILD
    Format: Paperback
Five stars in hopes it is listed at the top. PLEASE read before you give this to your child! The art work is gorgeous, a very gift able book! I got this for my dragon loving 11yr old as a Christmas book to enjoy in December. Let me just tell you a quick run down of the book.... this child is the only child left unadopted at an orphanage run by a nasty woman and her evil dog. The woman is annoyed by the child and as punishment she cancels Christmas and puts a chain around her ankle and locks her in a dog kennel (yes it says this many times, not simply implied but directly said it and a drawing of it). Finally a little Christmas magic and glimmer of joy when a snow dragon frees her for one quick adventure. That portion is a cute story but it's a very short part in the book. When the adventure is over the child is snuck back in and ankle chain back on and back in the dog kennel. The mean woman returns and says it's time to play a game called "chase".....then the book details what this game is.... this mean woman makes the orphans hold bones and tells them to run, then her evil dog is allowed to chase the kids (scary, not a fun dog frolicking with happy children).....finally at the end the little girl and her sweet dancing dog are adopted. But this book is so sad, this is not a sweet story or Christmas fun. I'm returning the book bc I feel like it will make my child sad instead of enjoy a cute Christmas story. If you are an adoptive parent or a foster parent this may really trigger your children, any child who is sensitive would probably not like this book. However every child is different so for some kids they may be less bothered and just enjoy the dragon and cute last page with the new family walking away together. But read the book for yourself before giving it to a child. I'm 37 with no history of childhood trauma myself and I found this book to be a bit much. I use to be a foster mom and I really wanted to write a review so parents would understand what's in this book bc I almost didn't read it before giving it to my child for Christmas! Glad I read it! The story could have been adorable if they let the dragon be the main part of the story. Not the abuse the child is suffering in the orphanage.

    Lovely Winter Solstice Book
    Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
My son loved this winter solstice story! Told by the perspective of the animals, each one brings a little something to share with the others as they decorate a tree together with their items and it's exactly what I wanted in a winter solstice story for my 4 year old. Not too complex which is ideal for younger children, not soly describing the change of season. I feel like this is more of the heart of winter solstice, coming together with friends and family, being generous and having gratitude, and over all sharing light with each other in the longest night of the year. My son's favorite page is definitely the fold out!
