The mounting plates are constructed of 3mm steel, and the bar is made from 1.5-inch diameter x 1.5mm thick steel tubing. Great vacuum

Bought this to replace a Dyson, and I love it! Strong suction and super quiet. I was especially interested in this vacuum because of allergies and wanted better filtration to keep dust down, and this succeeded. I got no dust blowing around and the house doesn’t smell like dog after vacuuming. I did buy the Miele hepa filter since that does not come with this vacuum. Great purchase for allergies - Worth the money!
