Fitting and handling
Allow the timber to acclimatise outdoors, stacked with spacers between boards, for 48 hours before fixing - this reduces movement after installation. Boards should be fixed with stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanised screws to prevent staining and corrosion; pre-drilling near board ends will reduce splitting. Once installed, applying a proprietary decking oil or end-grain preservative will extend service life, particularly on cut ends exposed during installation.

Does this kit include everything I need to build the deck, or do I need to buy anything extra?
The kit includes decking boards, joists, a fixing kit, and weed membrane - the core components for a standard ground-level build. You may need additional post supports or a concrete base depending on your ground conditions, and a decking oil finish is recommended but sold separately.
Is the timber already treated, and does it need further treatment after cutting?
Yes, all components are pressure treated before despatch. However, any cuts made on site will expose untreated end grain, so applying a brush-on preservative or end-grain sealant to cut ends is strongly advised to maintain the treatment's effectiveness.
Can this kit be used for a raised deck rather than ground level?
The kit is designed and sized for ground-level builds. For a raised deck, additional structural posts and possibly heavier joists would be required beyond what this kit provides. We would recommend speaking to our team for advice on specifying components for raised applications.
