Pro-Tip: The 5/16" diameter is often used for specific spline joinery or shelving grooves. When cutting deep slots, avoid attempting to cut the full depth in one pass, as this traps chips and overheats the carbide. Instead, perform multiple passes, increasing the depth by approximately 1/4" to 5/16" with each pass, to maintain a cooler bit and a cleaner edge.
