Marshmallow has been used in traditional Ayurvedic, European, Greek and Unani medicines for thousands of years. The leaves are cited in herbal pharmacopeias as a soothing agent for the throat, bronchial, and respiratory system.

The Marshmallow plant produces a natural substance known as mucilage, which coats and forms a protective layer on the mucous linings within the body.

Ingredients: Marshmallow root 

Common use:

Gentle, soothing support for the mucous tissue, such as the throat and respiratory systems (tea, gargle); soothes urinary tract & gastrointestinal health. NOTE: Marshmallow leaves have a gentler demulcent action than the root.

Suggested directions:

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over ½ to 1 teaspoonful of herb. Allow to steep 4-7 minutes, then strain. Drink 1- 2 cups of tea daily. If desired, add honey and/or lemon to taste.
