Rare German WWII Etched Short Model Dress Bayonet by Eickhorn-This is a good-looking bayonet with some scarcely seen characteristics. The finish on the nickel-plated pommel, crossguard and fittings is very good, and I would say it is a conservative 90% intact. These have toned to a nice matte silver. The checkered grip plates are also excellent, as are the rivets.  The mortise button is fully functional. The leather buffer is still in place under the crossguard as is the red felt in the slot. The anodized scabbard shows only light wear and is in very sound condition overall. The ball at the tip is undented though it is missing finish. The blade is a thing of beauty. It is very nicely on the reverse with the early Eickhorn squirrel logo, but it also beautifully etched with “Honor Strength Freedom” in a gothic script. This is a scarcely encountered etching.  This comes with a very nice properly tied green and silver knot, that is also in very good shape though it does show very slight wear. This is attached to a handmade brown leather frog that is interesting in its own right. The strap that closes over the handle is broken, so please look closely at the photos. This bayonet is a rare beauty.
