Complete front disc brake conversion kit with forged drop spindles for VW Beetle and Karmann Ghia link pin front suspension. Drops front ride height by 2.5" and upgrades to 5-lug double-drilled disc brake rotors in both Porsche-pattern 5x130mm and Wide-5 5x205mm bolt patterns simultaneously. EMPI part #22-2925-0.

Two upgrades in one kit

This kit accomplishes two major front-end upgrades at once:

  1. 2.5" front drop via the forged drop spindle geometry, lowering the front of the car without modifying the front beam or torsion leaves
  2. 5-lug double-drilled disc brakes, replacing the stock 5-lug drum brakes with much more capable disc brakes — and giving you wheel compatibility with both the Porsche 5-lug pattern (5x130mm) and the classic VW Wide-5 pattern (5x205mm)

The forged spindles are significantly stronger than stamped or cast equivalents, which is the right choice for a part that carries the full weight and braking load of the front end. The double-drilling lets you run period-correct Wide-5 steel wheels or modern Porsche-pattern wheels (BRM, Fuchs-style, etc.) without changing rotors.

Specifications

  • Drop: 2.5 inches front ride height reduction
  • Spindle: Forged steel drop spindle
  • Brake type: Disc brake conversion (front)
  • Bolt patterns: Double-drilled — 5x130mm (Porsche) and 5x205mm (Wide-5 VW)
  • Lug count: 5-lug
  • Front end type: Link pin (king pin)
  • Part number: 22-2925-0

Fitment

  • VW Beetle Type 1 (link pin front): 1954–1965
  • VW Karmann Ghia (link pin front): 1956–1965

Verify your specific car carefully. This kit requires the link pin (king pin) front beam. Will NOT fit ball joint front ends (1966 and later) or Super Beetle (MacPherson strut). Pressing out the original link and king pins is necessary when installing the new drop spindles. Confirm your specific car's compatibility with us before ordering on this high-value kit.

Kit includes

  • 2.5" forged drop spindles (pair)
  • Brake rotors double-drilled 5x130mm (14x1.5mm threads) and 5x205mm (12x1.5mm threads)
  • Brake calipers and pads
  • OE-style brake hoses
  • SKF wheel bearings and grease seals
  • Mounting hardware and instructions
  • Dust caps

Important install notes

  • Must be used with minimum 15" wheels. 14" wheels are not compatible with the rotor diameter.
  • Low-profile (shorter) tires are required to clear the drop. Stock tire heights will rub at the top of suspension travel.
  • Front track width increases by approximately 5/8" total (5/16" per side).
  • Pressing out the original link and king pins is required. New king/link pins are available as separate parts.
  • If converting to 4-wheel disc brakes, a large-bore dual-circuit master cylinder is mandatory. We carry the Wilwood 1" tandem master cylinder kit.

Durable
Color: E) 8-Pack 2.5" Balls (Yellow)
My dogs love them. They are very bouncy, and ideal size, and durable. Great alternative to a tennis ball which in my house only last 30 minutes.

Toughest dang balls I ever played with
Color: D) 4-Pack 3" Balls (Yellow), Color: D) 4-Pack 3" Balls (Yellow)
These things are amazing. We have a ball obsessed Husky mix and he has destroyed Kongs, Chuck Its, and a whole lot of other ball shaped objects. These things? We bought the 4 pack because we bought 4 Chuck Its and they lasted a year, all 4 of them only a year, before they were destroyed. A year after buying these? We only bought more because he lost 3 of them. I think we did find one under the dresser after buying this pack... But the others? They either ended up thrown over the fence into the woods or lost in the holes in the yard the monster digs up. Other than a few pockmarks from his teeth and maybe some mud, they may as well be brand new even after a year or two. Probably the most chew resistant thing we've ever bought him. They're really solid rubber and since he hasn't managed to bite into them to take out a chunk, they're safe as hell. Being as big as they are, I don't worry he's gonna choke unattended on them like the usual size of ball. About the only concern is forcing breaks so he can have breathing moments when he manages to talk us into fetch outside. It fits in the larger Chuck It thrower too, so we haven't lost any value from having those torn up.

Sturdy bouncy fun!
Color: D) 4-Pack 3" Balls (Yellow), Color: D) 4-Pack 3" Balls (Yellow)
Great product. My big 70lb Sheppard puppy loves it, hasn’t stopped playing with it since it arrived. She throws it about and chases it, had a good chew on it and even put it in her favorite toys bin. Sturdy, firm and very bouncy. And there are 3 more in the bag for an awesome price. Bright color will make it easy to find and holes thru it will prevent choking and I can string it on a line for training play.

Dogs love these
Color: C) 2-Pack 2.5" Balls (Yellow)
Great quality balls for tough chewers. I love them, but wish the orange ones were available more...I've been checking cuz they are easier to find in the yard than the green that blends in. Our dogs love them and I like the weight for throwing.

Great for heavy chewers! Belgian Malinois Approved!
Color: E) 8-Pack 2.5" Balls (Yellow)
I bought these 6 months ago because my dog kept loosing his Kong balls. These were such a better price ball (but still had good reviews) that I thought I would give them a try. They are wonderful. After six months of chewing and chasing and playing with a Belgian Malinois, the two that I’ve gotten out are still in great condition. The bright color makes them easier to find, so none have been permanently lost yet. They are bouncier and a little bit lighter weight compared to the Kong balls of the same size, which I honestly appreciate because my maligator likes to shoot them at my feet. So far the material seems high quality and I feel safe letting the dog chew on it for hours on end. The 8 pack was cheaper than 2 Kong balls. A great deal for a great product!!
