From concepts of authorial intent, to textual criticism, to speech act theory, the book is full of gems that would be useful for anyone trying to make sense of the Bible. It is an unashamedly academic book in nature, full of footnotes and references, and yet, incredibly accessible and readable. Anyone with little or no background in these topics would be able to understand the questions being asked and the answers given.
