1 Peter is a call to hopeful flourishing and Spirit filled mission in the midst of trials and adversity. 1 Peter was written to discouraged, confused believers who were being persecuted for their faith. In this letter, Peter encourages these “chosen sojourners” to persevere in hope, trust, good works, love, and mission even when the road is broken, hostile, and difficult. He reminds those who are united with Christ of the eternal inheritance and incredible hope we have, both in this life and especially for eternity in heaven.
