Features:

• Growth: It develops pendulous, terete (cylindrical) pseudobulbs up to 60 cm long, with swollen nodes and deciduous, lanceolate leaves.

• Flowering:

  • Occurs on old, leafless canes—typically winter, flowering into early spring.

  • Inflorescences arise along the length of the canes, often bearing 1–3 long-lasting, fragrant flowers with a caramel-like scent.

  • Flowers measure up to 10 cm across, with white petals tipped in pale purple, and a pale yellow lip marked with purplish-red stripes; the appearance is distinctive and visually striking.

• Light: Enjoys bright indirect light—filter strong sun, especially in hotter climates.

• Temperature: Prefers cool to intermediate conditions:

  • Summer: ~23–25 °C day / 16–17 °C night (Δ 7–9 °C)

  • Spring: ~27–28 °C day / 10–16 °C night

  • Winter: ~22–25 °C day / 6–7 °C night (Δ ~15–18 °C).

Humidity & Rest

• Humidity: Maintain 75–85% from late spring to autumn; drop to around 60% in late winter to late spring.

• Rest Period:

  • Requires a cool, dry winter rest to initiate flowering.

  • Deciduous—leaves will drop during rest.

  • Allow the medium to dry out between waterings; occasional light morning misting helps.

Watering & Fertilizer

• Growing Phase (spring–autumn): Water moderately to heavily; keep medium moist.

• Rest Phase (winter): Reduce watering; allow drying phases between waterings to mimic natural dryness.

• Fertilizer:

  • Apply 1/4–1/2 strength orchid fertilizer weekly during active growth.

  • Use high nitrogen in spring to mid-summer and higher phosphorus in late summer to autumn.

Mounting & Repotting
