Wat zijn paardenpezen?

Paardenpezen zijn gedroogde peesstructuren van paard. Door het droogproces ontstaat een stevige, taaie snack die tijdens het kauwen langzaam zachter wordt en in vezelige stukjes uiteenvalt.

Door hun compacte structuur zijn paardenpezen een snack waar honden actief op werken.

Omdat het een natuurproduct betreft, kunnen kleur, dikte en vorm per stuk verschillen.

Herkomst van paardenpezen

Paardenpezen zijn — net zoals bullepezen bij rund — de gedroogde pees uit de penis van het dier. Deze pees bestaat uit sterk bindweefsel en heeft van nature een zeer vezelrijke structuur.

Juist deze natuurlijke structuur maakt het materiaal geschikt als kauwsnack: tijdens het kauwen wordt de pees geleidelijk zachter en breekt hij af in kleinere vezels.
