Wij genieten van wijn. Het doet ons nadenken, plezier beleven, onthouden. We vertellen verhalen over Fedora en over de geschiedenis van onze familie en ons huis. Zijn ze waar, veranderd of nep? We laten u zelf beslissen. Elke wijn heeft zijn eigen verhaal.

Tatoe

Een wijnmaker met een heel slecht geheugen ging naar een grote stad aan zee, waar hij alles wat hij wist over druiven, de maan en de vruchtbaarheid van de grond op zijn rug liet tatoeëren. Naarmate de tijd verstreek, trouwde hij uiteindelijk, uit liefde natuurlijk - maar zijn ware liefde was alleen voor de wijnstok. Hij koesterde de avonden waarop zijn vrouw hem keer op keer voorlas van zijn gehavende rug. Maar zijn lot zou met andere woorden worden geschreven. Op een dag, toen hij terugkwam van weer een dag hard werken in de wijngaard, stak een koopman zijn pad over. Deze handelaar verkocht onze wijnmaker een spiegeltje waarvan hij zei dat het hem zou helpen om vanaf zijn rug te lezen. Dit betekende dat hij niet voor nog een hongerige mond hoefde te zorgen, dus gooide hij zijn vrouw prompt het huis uit en uit zijn leven. Vanaf die dag keek hij nooit meer naar een andere vrouw. Mensen zeggen dat je hem nog steeds kunt zien op een hete, zonnige dag, terwijl hij in zijn wijngaard werkt, alleen gekleed in een broek, laarzen en een hoed, gevuld met barstende liefde voor zijn wijnstok. Zelfs van ver kun je verblind worden door zijn zakspiegel, die zijn ongeëvenaarde passie weerspiegelt. We zijn er trots op dat onze wijn Pinela zijn onuitwisbare teken aankondigt.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
