Vaak hebben mensen met het PWS een sociaal-emotionele ontwikkeling van een jong kind (3-4 jaar) en in combinatie met andere andere kenmerken van dit syndroom, zoals een onverzadigbare eetlust en spierslapte, kan dit leiden tot complex gedrag dat wordt gekenmerkt door veel verschillende emoties.
