Rode meidoorn

Eigenlijk zou de rode meidoorn boom ook prima passen tussen de ''bloesembomen''. Vele mensen verwachtte dit niet, maar deze rode meidoorn heeft in mei/juni prachtige roze trosjes met bloemen. Deze zijn eerst egaal roze en worden daarna iets bleker. Ook kan deze boom redelijk goed klein gehouden worden. Daarom is deze boom ook populair in de kleinere tuin. Wat vaak als een nadeel wordt gezien is dat deze meidoorn boom ook doornen heeft. (Wij van BetuweBomen zijn er allemaal wel is door geprikt, want de doornen zijn slechts 2,5 centimeter groot. De Latijnse naam van deze bloesem dragende laanboom is overigens Crataegus laevigata Paul’s Scarlet. In eerste instantie groeit deze boom breed op, maar na een aantal jaar groeien de takken steeds iets verder omhoog. De groeiwijze van de rode meidoorn is fijn en krijgt uiteindelijk veel blad. Dit blad is ovaal en klein en is herkenbaar. In de herfst krijgt de rode meidoorn een andere kleur en wordt het blad geel. Ook dit geeft sierwaarde. Uiteindelijk valt het blad af. Deze boom is dus niet bladhoudend.

Meidoorn boom, struik of haag?

De Rode meidoorn is te verkrijgen in verschillende soorten en maten. Zoals we eerder al aangaven zijn er ook verschillende kleuren meidoorn. Een breed pallet om uit te kiezen dus. Op onze website bieden we alleen de meest verkochte soorten aan. Deze zijn het meest gangbaar en vaak ook meest gezond. Unieke bomen/planten kunnen nogal is kuren hebben. De meidoorn struik is zo een unieke heester die we niet hebben, maar die er wel is. Wel hebben we nog de meidoorn haag, een leuke haagplant met besjes erin. Geen dure haagplant overigens. Verder hebben we voor de liefhebbers ook nog de Zuilvormige meidoorn (Crataegus monogyna Stricta). Een ander soort meidoorn met daarin ook andere vruchten. Deze boom groeit wel heerlijk stijl overeind. De boom die u hier ziet is een hoogstam variant.

Rode meidoorn kopen

We snappen heel goed dat u wellicht zo zit van: ''Okay, leuke informatie allemaal, maar hoe weet ik of deze meidoorn boom iets voor mij is?''. Geen zorgen, we gaan hieronder een aantal specifieke eigenschappen neerzetten van de rode meidoorn boom. Voordat u de meidoorn gaat kopen is het handig om deze informatie te weten.

  1. Zonder te snoeien wordt deze boom vaak tussen de 6 en de 8 meter. Uiteraard kunt u hem ook iets kleiner maken en zo blijft deze geschikt voor de middelgrote tuin;
  2. De rode meidoorn is niet bladhoudend;
  3. In het najaar wordt het blad van deze boom prachtig geel;
  4. Er komen ook doornen aan de meidoorn boom te zitten. Deze kunnen akelig steken;
  5. De rode meidoorn is wel winterhard tot zo een 25 graden onder nul;
  6. Deze boom groeit eigenlijk goed op bijna elke grondsoort. (Het moet wel een beetje nattig kunnen zijn.)
  7. Vaak komen er in de zomer bijen op de rode meidoorn af;
  8. Deze boom is minder goed bestendig tegen harde wind;
  9. U kunt de meidoorn kopen als u een middelgrote tuin heeft of een grote tuin;
  10. De oorsprong van deze boom ligt in Engeland (19e eeuw), dus aan het Nederlandse klimaat is deze boom gewend;
  11. De bloeitijd van deze boom is in mei/juni;
  12. Deze rode meidoorn is een hoogstam boom. Wanneer u meer iets zoekt in de trend van een halfstam, dan kunt u beter kijken naar de zuilboom variant.

Rode meidoorn boom snoeien

Uiteraard is het ook handig om te weten hoe en wanneer u de rode meidoorn moet snoeien. Het snoeien van deze boom is iets minder relevant dan voor andere bomen. De gezondheid van de meidoorn hangt er namelijk niet helemaal van af. Deze boom kan ook prima voortleven zonder menselijke hand. Er zijn wel een paar tips die we u kunnen geven.

Wanneer snoeien

Wanneer u gaat snoeien is dit verstandig om het te doen in de wintermaanden. Denk aan november/december. Doe het niet op een al te koude dag overigens. In de wintermaanden staat de sapstroom stil. Boomkwekers halen onder andere deze boom dan ook uit de grond. Snoei dus in de winter.

Hoe snoeien

Het kan zo zijn dat de rode meidoorn dode takken heeft. Dit ziet er niet alleen vervelend uit, dit is natuurlijk ook minder gezond voor de boom. De boom kan het waarschijnlijk zelf oplossen, maar wat hulp van u is ook zeker welkom. U kunt bijvoorbeeld de takken gewoon afsnoeien. Ook kruisende takken mag u afsnoeien. Snoei niet meer dan 30% van de takken af en behoud altijd de oorspronkelijke vorm van de boom.

Het planten

Hopelijk weet u nu hoe u de rode meidoorn boom kan snoeien en wanneer het een goede keuze is om deze te kopen. Maar indien u op het punt staat om deze boom te kopen, is het wellicht ook handig om te weten hoe u deze in de grond krijgt. Geen zorgen, daar hebben we een zeer praktische ''aanplant handleiding'' voor gemaakt. Hier staat uitgelegd hoe om te gaan wanneer de boom is geleverd tot en met het aanplanten. Het planten van deze boom is vrij cruciaal, omdat het de gezondheid betreft. We raden u daarom ook aan om altijd Aanplantgrond en Boompalen voor bomen erbij te kopen.

Very nearly the perfect frother for all your basic frothing & mixing needs

There are a lot of middle-of-the-road frothers out there. I've been through a few of them in my recent search for something that could mix and froth well, without taking up any more outlets in my basement kitchen. Of the three Maestri frothers I've tried so far, this one wins the race by a nose. Most recently, these Maestri frothers come in basically three versions: A single-speed @ 8000 RPM, a two-speed @8000/5500 RPM, and this stepless variable-speed version. Aside from that, the only real difference in recent version pack-outs is which attachments they come with. Look over the reviews of the single-speed version and you'll find that while it can and does froth well, it starts at a single, high speed and gets there fast. This makes it pretty easy to spin liquid right out of most common cups and mugs. There is a two-speed version, but it's harder to find, only comes in one color (Grape Purple), and while it's much better than the Maestri single-speed, it still has a couple of quirks that make this variable-speed version win out. This mixes and froths whole milk, half-and-half, or heavy whipping cream, or just about anything else very well. Like all frothers, it takes a little time to learn its nuances and nail down the technique, this will definitely get you there. The best feature of this is easily the speed control. Turn the knob to turn it on at a low speed that's great to get things started, then turn the knob to crank up the speed just enough to do what you need, whether that's mixing or frothing. The low starting speed makes it easy to keep things under control without undue spilling, and the max speed is more than enough to make quick work of getting your froth on. There are really only two complaints I have with this stepless, variable speed version: - I'd really like to have a Press On / Release Off button in addition to the Speed Control knob. More than one time have I gone to turn this off, only to spin the knob the wrong way and crank the speed up to ludicrous, sloshing liquid on the counter. Being able to turn it Off just by letting go of the button would be quick and easy. This configuration would allow using a preferred speed right from the start, while still allowing speed to be adjusted on-the-fly when needed. - Give it a bigger battery. It would cost mere pennies to give this a 2000mAH+ instead of a 1200mAH battery, and I can't think of any reasonable downside to that. - Give the motor a little more torque. It's fairly easy for the current motor, at any speed, to get bogged down in a thick protein powder mix, or when pressing the frother or other attachment a bit too hard into the bottom or side of the frothing container. A bit more "oomph" would prevent that. I really like the overall design and features of thes Maestri frothers better than many other, cheaper versions. This variable-speed version is pretty great as it is and probably the one I would recommend over the single- or two-speed, for most people. But I often find myself using two hands -- one to hold it steady, and the other to turn it on and tweak the knob to the desired speed(s) -- for a device that should arguably need only one hand to use. Just a couple of minor tweaks as noted above would make this the overall best frother of its type that I've used.

Hands down, the BEST handheld frother I've ever used! I got the black one, but any color will have the same results. Over the past 12 years or so, I've used so many different handheld frothers and they've ALL fallen short of expectations for quality, longevity, power, features, and usability. I've used everything from cheap, $15 models to $50+ models and everything in-between. Some with fancy attachments for various types of mixing, frothing, beating, whipping, etc. Some with rechargeable batteries, some without. Some AC powered, some with fixed whisks, some with detachable/replaceable whisks, some with stands, etc. NONE have been spectacular. Most broke within 6 months and got tossed. ALL were major disappointments in the end, including the "revered" Zulay models of which I tried several. I finally found this Maestri House branded, variable speed frother with detachable / replaceable whisks and got one to try. I was literally on Cloud Nine the first time I turned it on. Like, WOW! Not only was it FAST on the highest speed, but it was powerful enough to churn right through milk, eggs, cream, etc, without bogging down like many others. This thing makes milk froth like a milkshake and Matcha Lattes like nothing else I've ever experienced. I used to have to sift my Matcha, then whisk it in hot water, then froth milk and then blend them together to make the perfect latte. and if the milk was cold (my preference), pre-whisking in hot water was a must to avoid lumps. However, with THIS frother? I literally pour my milk into a tall tumbler, drop in un-sifted Matcha powder, and spin up the Maestri House frother at first on a medium low speed to get it mixed, then jump straight to the highest speed to really whip that milk and match up. After about 30-45 seconds, I've got the thickest, richest, smoothest, most aerated latte around. And NO LUMPS at all!!! What a time and dish saver! And cleaning? I just run it under hot running water to get the shaft cleaned and then spin it up in a dish with hot running water for a few moments, then spin it on high for a few seconds in the air to dry it off instantly. Now, I'll be honest here, too. The specs say it can go months on a charge, using it for a couple minutes a couple times daily. Well, I guess it could do that and still spin. But I use it FULL SPEED, churning hard for at least a minute a couple times per day. After about 2 weeks, I can start to notice a speed reduction so I just plug it back in on the charger. All things considered, this is still better than all the other handheld frothers I've used over the years. After using the heck out of this thing for the past 7 months, I've even decided to start selling these in our Japanese gift shop. The manufacturer is has been very responsive both in customer support (I called them about an issue I thought I was having, and they called me back with a couple hours even though I didn't leave voicemail when they didn't answer right away) and in reseller support. I have to give these guys an A+ for responsiveness and quick resolution when problems might arise. HIGHLY recommended!!

Still The Best Frother Ever!

I love how it is easy to use, how it holds a charge, and how much power it has. I've only charged it once since I got it & I've been using it on a daily basis!!! Though it isn't a long time, I'm happy with it so far! I definitely will recommend it to anyone looking for a great frother. If you are looking for one, look no further! You won't be disappointed! I've read some comments where they found it to be too strong that their drink spilled everywhere. But for me I have not had any incident of spilling over. I have used it both for my coffee and my matcha tea and it worked great without any spilling over. You just have to start with the lowest power and ensure that you have a large enough container to have a room for your frothing. My sister tried to use it recently during her visit to make us matcha tea. However, she experienced spillage all over the cup, because she had used a small cup. Otherwise, she liked it very much and said she will get one when her battery operated one stops working... Another thing I like about the product was the customer service that I had received. When I got my first order which came quickly, it wasn't working after having charged it over 24 hours. It was not turning on at all. I returned it and ordered a replacement which I received within a day or two. This time after charging it for the recommended amount of time, I was a bit skeptical when I turned it on. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it worked like it was supposed to and it has been working ever since having charged it only once so far. I may come back and give an update depending on how it does after 6 months of use, so keep in tune... I don't know if there is a way to write a new entry as a follow up to the old entry, so I'm going to add my follow up comment over here. May 23, 2025 - I love my frother more than I can say in words. It's functionality has not changed a bit from the time I have purchased it. It charge lasts several weeks to few months before I charge it again and the power is still the same. Recently I decided to buy another one for my office use. I like the white color and so tried it but that one wouldn't even turn on. And then I got a gray one to have a different color. That one was much weaker than the black one I own. Then I replaced it with another gray one within few days. I tried it and it was exactly the same as the one I already replaced. So then I decided to go with a black one again hoping that it would be the same as the one I have. The black one did much better than the gray ones in the strength or power of the frother. However, it is weaker than the one I already have been using since last August. While I am not very happy with the quality being inconsistent in all of the ones I have tried including the recent pictures of the black one, I have decided to keep the black one because it is relatively better than the gray ones I tried. What I don't understand is why there is inconsistency in the quality of the same product by the same maker. I am beginning to wonder if the black one I purchased in Augusta last year was anomaly of a quality and a good way. Maybe I lucked out on my older black frother, but I'm unsure if quality is going to get better if I were to order another one. I have a sister who is a pro in making coffee drinks and she was the reason I had ordered this frother to begin with. She uses a battery operated one at this time and I have been thinking about getting her one like mine. While I am still skeptical, I am going to give it a shot and order her one sometime soon. If it doesn't work, I guess we will return it back. But one thing that I am grateful is that I have been able to return every one of those that I have tried recently with no issues. I hope that I don't have to return my most recent purchase in black. I was not even able to review the new purchase because of the item being the same color which is crazy.
