Het begin is al reuze interessant. Wanneer je de Amplus Merot Santa Ema opentrekt sta je al perplex. Zowel de kleur als de geur doen totaal niet vermoeden dat we hier met een Merlot te maken hebben. Je ruikt zoveel, je krijgt dorst bij elke keer ruiken. Totaal niet vlak maar juist rond en intens. Je ruikt zeker het fruitige karakter: zwarte kersen, en cassis maar ook enorm complexe geuren zoals chocolade, tabak en grafiet. Simpelweg oogverblindend deze Chileense wijn. Amplus Merlot is krachtig, met ronde tannines die het een dikke, volwassen en verleidelijke afdronk geven met alle authenticiteit van de Peumo Valley in Cachapoal.
