The property :

East of Saint-Emilion, on the right bank of Bordeaux, the Château de Pressac dominates the commune of Saint-Etienne de Lisse. Having experienced the surrender of the Hundred Years War and the advent of a grape variety, the Château de Pressac is a true historical and viticultural stronghold of the region. Today, and since 1997, it is the Quenin family that has the honor of managing the vineyard and property of Pressac. Thanks to their philosophy of excellence and their passion for this exceptional terroir, they have raised the Château de Pressac to the rank of Grand Cru of Saint-Emilion in 2012.

The vineyard :

The 33-hectare vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable agriculture on a limestone plateau overlooking the Dordogne.

Wine-making :

Manual harvest in crates. Double sorting of the grapes. Vatting by gravity. Vinification by gentle pumping over and/or delestage. Vatting time of 20 to 24 days. Malolactic fermentation partly in new barrels.

Maturation :

Aged in barrels for 16 to 18 months. 50% new barrels.

Blending :

Merlot (77%), Cabernet Franc (9%), Cabernet Sauvignon (11%), Malbec (1%), Carménère (2%)

Try it in a carrot cake, it is yummy!!!

I have without question been extremely happy with all of the DaVinci syrups, and products I have purchased. This chai syrup really was perfect for making chai lattes for my wife, and adding some chai flavor to other drinks, and I even used it in some cheesecake frosting, and inside of a carrot cake recipe, and it was perfect. I strongly suggest that you try it in carrot cake, and in other things like frosting. The chai carrot cake I made ended up being the perfect compliment to a nice cappuccino. I made a bunch of cupcakes using the carrot cake mix with the chai,and the chai cream cheese frosting, and with a nice coffee made the coffee taste better, and the carrot cake complimented the coffee perfectly. I have made them a few times now, and will say don't overdo and put too much frosting onto the carrot cake, and it is something I can't recommend enough. I actually have been using it more it making baked goods, and little desserts more then for chai lattes even. It just really works perfectly in them.

Comparing to the coffee giant version

Starbucks comparison (from a personal standpoint): I’m fortunate enough to have a bottle of Starbucks Brown Sugar. Problem is, I’m almost out. Looking around at some alternative options, and reading the reviews- I see some saying this is a good substitute. Because I happen to have the syrup on hand, I figured I should see if it is, because it would be great given the low cost of DaVinci syrup. This picture I’m attaching is just to see the color difference. Consistency wise, the DaVinci syrup is much lighter, more runny. The Starbucks is definitely a thicker liquid, that runs much slower. Flavor is the big one: DaVinci is lighter on taste, and sweeter. The best way to describe the flavor is comparing DaVinci’s to 100% real maple syrup that’s been diluted down with water. It’s good, but not really similar (in my opinion) to Starbucks Brown Sugar. Starbucks is more smokey in flavor, more strong/bold. My drinks are made using espresso, oak milk, cinnamon powder, and ice. I made my drink the same way, but used DaVinci Syrup this time. I found that the same amount of syrup that I use for the Starbucks, didn’t feel like it had a strong enough flavor. What did I do? I added an extra ounce of DaVinci hoping to get a stronger flavor. The problem is, DaVinci is more sweet than the Starbucks syrup (in my opinion) and ended up making my drink taste too sweet. It’s sweet enough that I’m not going to finish drinking it. I’m not knocking the DaVinci syrup itself. I think it’s a good brand and a good flavor. It’s just not the flavor I was hoping would solve my issue for a Starbucks imitation. I would encourage anyone to still try this syrup, but do so to enjoy it for being its own flavor.
