Marius Quin is a complicated man, who does not take himself too seriously. Sent off to WWI at 18, leaving behind the woman he still loves, he survived the horrors of the trenches. After the war he spent a few years in Europe trying to recover before returning to England and becoming a mystery writer. The plots in the books so far have all been very interesting and twisty, with detailed historical settings and interesting supporting characters. Add the underlying draw for Marius to be with Bella, his best friend, whom he shattered by leaving and disappearing for years instead of marrying her. Throw in his post war PTSD and his drive to do the right thing, and you have a great read in every book!
