Louis Latour Viognier d'Ardèche 2024 is een aromatische witte wijn uit de Coteaux de l'Ardèche, gemaakt van 100% Viognier. Maison Louis Latour koos in 2007 bewust voor deze druif, die oorspronkelijk uit de noordelijke Côtes du Rhône komt en bijna was verdwenen voordat hij wereldwijd opnieuw populair werd. In de Ardèche staat Viognier op hellender percelen dan de Chardonnay van het huis, met klei en kalksteen als basis. Dat geeft deze wijn zijn combinatie van abrikoos, amandel, frisse aanzet en ronde, licht ziltige finale.

Wijngaarden en regio

De wijn komt uit de Ardèche, waar Louis Latour sinds de late jaren 70 Bourgondische precisie toepast op zuidelijker gelegen wijngaarden.

• Ligging / Herkomst: De druiven komen uit de Coteaux de l'Ardèche, binnen de IGP Ardèche. De wijn wordt gevinifieerd in de kelder van Louis Latour aan de rand van Alba la Romaine.

• Bodem: De wijnstokken staan op klei en kalksteen. Deze combinatie helpt Viognier aan rijp fruit, ronding en frisse spanning.

• Wijngaard: De Viognier staat op hellender percelen dan de Chardonnay van Louis Latour in de Ardèche. Die ligging draagt bij aan concentratie en aromatische expressie.

• Wijngaard & Oogst: De stokken zijn gemiddeld 15 jaar oud, met een opbrengst van 35 hl per hectare. De druiven worden met de hand geoogst, zodat het aromatische fruit zorgvuldig kan worden verwerkt.

Druivensamenstelling

Deze witte Ardèche wijn wordt volledig gemaakt van Viognier.

• Viognier – Ardèche: Viognier geeft deze wijn zijn aromatische karakter, met tonen van abrikoos, amandel, sinaasappel en zachte ronding. De druif staat bekend om haar geurige stijl en volle textuur, maar krijgt hier door de RVS vinificatie een frisse, zuivere vorm.

Vinificatie en rijping

De vinificatie is gericht op aromabehoud, frisheid en een ronde maar heldere textuur.

• Vergisting: De wijn vergist traditioneel in temperatuurgecontroleerde roestvrijstalen tanks en ondergaat volledige malolactische omzetting. Wat is malolactische omzetting? Dit is een tweede omzetting waarbij scherpere zuren zachter worden, waardoor de wijn ronder en soepeler aanvoelt.

• Rijping: De wijn rijpt 12 maanden in roestvrijstalen tanks. Daardoor blijven de aroma’s van abrikoos, sinaasappel en amandel helder aanwezig, zonder invloed van hout.

• Bewaarpotentieel: Deze Viognier heeft een bewaarpotentieel van 3 jaar. Dat past goed bij de frisse, aromatische stijl, waarin fruit en rondeur centraal staan.

Proefnotities en serveertips

In het glas heeft deze Viognier een intense gele kleur met gouden reflecties. De geur is subtiel en aromatisch, met abrikoostaart en amandel, gevolgd door gekonfijte sinaasappel, karamel en een lichte ziltigheid in de smaak. De finale is elegant en evenwichtig, met een zachte ronding en een verfijnd bittertje.

• Serveertemperatuur: Serveer deze Viognier op 10–12 °C, zodat de abrikoos, amandel, frisse aanzet en ronde structuur mooi samenkomen.

• Gerechten: Heerlijk als aperitief en bij eendenterrine met kastanje, gebakken foie gras met abrikoos, fijne charcuterie en zachte kazen.

Maison Louis Latour werkt sinds 1979 in de Ardèche en bouwde in 1986 een moderne kelder in Alba la Romaine. Het huis werkt hier samen met ongeveer 100 lokale druiventelers, goed voor 380 hectare wijngaarden, en past dezelfde nauwkeurigheid toe die Louis Latour in Bourgogne groot heeft gemaakt. Massive treats, no tummy rumbles, but a little pricey
I'm always a little tentative when ordering dog treats online, because you don't always know in advance where they're sourced from, or what weird processing might be done to them, or what weird additives might be thrown in. These are sourced in Mexico, and they seem to be straightforward in terms of ingredients. Phew! The smell of these is not the best, but if you've fed your dog collagen treats before, I'm sure you know what you're getting into with that. The dogs loved them, for sure. These treats are MASSIVE, so if you have a small or medium sized dog, you might want to cut them into two or more pieces. For my 60ish pound dogs, they were very large but manageable, and the way their eyes lit up when I presented it to them, it was like Christmas. LOL The only reason I'm docking a star is because these are not long-term chews, at least for my dogs. Yak chews will generally last for a couple of hours for them, which I break up over several days by taking the treat away after a while and giving it back to them the next day. These chews were gone within about 5-10 minutes. (Five minutes for my spazzy dog who acts like treats will disappear if they're not hoovered it into her gullet at breakneck speed, and ten minutes for the other who likes to taste his food on the way down.) At almost $6 a pop, these are pretty expensive for 5-10 minutes of enjoyment, so this isn't going to be a treat I buy for them on the regular. There were no issues with tummy rumbles or nausea or diarrhea afterward, so that's good. And I like getting a little more collagen in these kids because they're both getting up there in age, so their hips and joints can use a little extra love. If you've got the extra money to spring for these, or if your dog paces him- or herself reasonably with dog treats, this could be a good choice for you.

Dog loves them, no rawhide!
My dog is obsessed with these! We have a 70 pound pit mix who is a power chewer and these rolls last forever. He goes crazy for the peanut butter taste and it takes him a couple of days to really destroy one entirely. They are very effective for keeping him busy as the size is massive. I like giving him something so large because he then sets his mind to it for a long time. I like that they have a lot of collagen in them, I can't say I've noticed that his coat is a great deal shinier but it can't hurt! I also like that these are rawhide free. I would say these are a good value as they keep him busy for a good amount of time.

These are great my dog loved it
Well, I can say one thing I have shepherd. Wolf hybrids, and they are very particular about the stuff they eat. I can give them raw meat, and if it's old, they don't want it, so they're pretty finicky, I hooked them up with these. And they didn't hesitate to go at them. So I wait, I fed half, and then waited a couple of days, they had no negative response to it. That I'm aware of and so I gave him the other one and split it between them, and they don't stop until they're gone. So they pretty much sold themselves for me. If mine My dogs will eat em.They must be okay worth the money in my book.Made my babies happy should get some for yours my dogs are like super chooers.Okay, they have jaws that break bone.So to try to say that these are not good for heavy chewers, I i can't agree with that.Although they won't last very long with heavy chewers, they do great.The dogs love them we only smell was the smell of the product.Kind of a food smell to it.And as soon as I opened the package, the dogs had me surrounded like the sue did old custard, and they weren't letting me go until I shared straight up the male's a hundred plus pounds.And he's eyeballing me like, i'm gonna be lunch.If I don't give him a share, it was funny as hell a great product i think one of the things is the peanut butter.That's in them.My dogs love their peanut butter now.These are almost a foot long each stick, and they're about an inch and a half in diameter.Now they would last for a pretty good time for a normal chew type.DogRottweiler's pit bull saint bernard's high bread.Shepherds, et cetera, anything with a two thousand pound byte is going to tear these things up and have a great time.Doing itThey won't last as long as the dainty chewers and the the comfort chewers, but they'll do the job
