“GUILLETIERE, Sieur de la” [pseudonym of Georges GUILLET]. Athenes ancienne et nouvelle, et l'estat present de l'empire des Turcs, contenant va vie du sultan Mahomet IV … Troisième edition, augmentée en plusieurs endroits sur les Memoires de l'Autheur. Paris: Estienne Michallet. 1676.

Small 8vo. Contemporary full vellum, title in ink to spine; pp. [xxiv], 456, [34], with folding engraved plate of a Greek theatre and the frequently missing folding engraved plan of Athens (repairs with conservation tape); covers a little soiled with abrasion to lower one; variable light spotting and even toning, occasional damp stain, final leaf with marginal paperflaw touching the last line of the privilege.

Third, expanded edition of Guillet’s rare work on Athens under Ottoman rule.

Georges Guillet (1624-1705), “Guillet de Saint- George”, was a French writer and historiographer, perhaps best known for Les arts de l’homme d’épée, ou dictionnaire du gentilhomme (1678). This rare account of Athens is presented as a series of letters purportedly sent by the author’s brother from the city, a literary fiction that conceals Guillet’s role as a careful compiler of first-hand information. Much of the material was supplied by Jean Giraud, the French consul in Athens, while the plan of the city was provided by the resident Capuchin monks. As a result, “Guillet’s account did contain information on the contemporary state of the city and he very much emphasized the need to compare the ancient and modern cultures” (Blackmer).

Seventeenth-century Athens was a minor provincial town of the Ottoman Empire and rarely visited by Western travellers. Contemporary descriptions of the sparsely populated city are therefore uncommon, making this work an important source for the study of early modern Athens.

Works well
Size: 6.5 FT, Color: Black
This thing was a life saver. It has plenty of plug ports for the price and it's not huge. The footprint is a bit bigger than some others but it's not bulky. Seems well built and the fact that I can power all my electronics and still have the USB ports to charge my phone and things is nice.

Good quality surge protector.
Size: 6.5 FT, Color: Black
It's great to have a search protector that has this much versatility. One of the spots that this is mostly needed is around the TV area. With the need to plug in TVs, DVD players, surround sound theater system equipment, Xbox and PS5's, wifi router etc. This thing has more than enough plug spaces then you can throw it at a single time. The east of having all these connecting ports available in one compact place is a big win. It also eliminates running unnecessary wires being that old the plugs you need to plug in will have it available socket. This search protector also has a very premium feel due to quality materials. Another great feature that it has is that you can hang it or drill it to a wall due in large part to its available pre drilled holes. Also the way that the sockets are aligned are perfect to plug different types of plugs with enough space in between. There is enough separation to make different types of plugs fit snuggly.

The Ultimate Command Center for My Workbench
Size: 6.5 FT, Color: Black
I finally ditched the old, flimsy power strip on my workbench and mounted this DEPOW 28-in-1 Surge Protector on the wall behind it. Honestly? It was the best move I’ve made for my workspace in years. Here is why this thing is a beast for anyone with a hobby or work bench: Insane Outlet Capacity: With 22 AC outlets, I no longer have to play "musical chairs" with my power tools. I can keep my chargers and bench tools plugged in simultaneously without running out of room. The Modern Tech Solution: It feels like every new gadget uses USB-A or USB-C these days. Having 6 dedicated USB ports (including 3 USB-C) built right in means I can charge my phone, tablets, and lights without using up my precious AC space with bulky "bricks." Pro Mounting & Design: Mounting it on the wall cleared up so much clutter on the bench surface. The 6.5ft flat plug cord made it easy to reach the wall outlet even with the bench pushed flush against it. Peace of Mind: With 2100 Joules of surge protection, I don’t have to worry about my expensive electronics or power tools getting fried during a storm. The Bottom Line: This isn't just an extension cord; it’s a full-on power hub. If you have a mix of high-power tools and modern USB-charged gear, "this baby" truly does it all. Highly recommended for gamers, DIYers, or anyone with a home office!
