CONDER, Josiah. The Modern Traveller … Columbia [on half-title]. London, James Duncan, 1830.

12mo. Contemporary half-morocco over marbled boards, spines ruled, numbered and lettered in gilt; pp. [2], iv, 356, folding engraved map, three engraved plates; lower inner hinge with inoffensive trace of worming, light toning and discolouration here and there, more so to engravings, final page of the first volume with tears and old backing; a very good copy with 20th-century German bookplate.

Rare. Second edition of the sum of the topographical and geographical knowledge of Colombia, the republic established in 1819 was much larger than the modern state in the first half of the 19th century. In 1824 the bookseller and writer Josiah Conder (1789-1822) had 'entered into an agreement with James Duncan of Paternoster Row to edit the afterwards well-known series of the Modern Traveller, undertaking in the first instance to furnish the volume on Palestine only. Ultimately he compiled the whole set of thirty volumes (1825–9), having assistance in only one or two of them. The series was successful, despite the fact of its editor's never having left his native country' (ODNB). 'It was one part of the plan, so to arrange the volumes that the description of any country might be sold peparately' (author's preface the first volume in the 30-volume series).

Untold Historical Legend!
Format: Paperback
This book tells the story of one of the greatest American heroes, Robert F. Williams. Robert F. Williams life and acts of heroism should be taught in every school and his name should be as well known as the names of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. This book details the life of Williams and the tragic events that led to him becoming an activist during the Civil Rights Movement. It’s a short book and is less than 100 pages long. It’s a quick read and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about American history and one of America’s greatest hero who has been erased from history books until now.

Great, necessary read
Format: Hardcover
One of the greatest forgotten stories of the civil rights struggle in America. Major influence on the Black Panther Party, was a required read for initiation when it started.
