Discover the captivating world of early childhood education in New Zealand with 'Politics in the Playground (Revised Ed)' by Helen May. This insightful book, now available in its third edition, explores the historical journey of early childhood care from the postwar era to the present, reflecting on significant milestones that have shaped the sector. The updated narrative includes the latest developments under the Labour coalition government led by Jacinda Ardern, providing a comprehensive view of how societal changes have influenced early childhood policies.

Drawing from the foundational book 'Discovery of Early Childhood', this engaging read details the evolution of institutional care and education for young children, highlighting pivotal events in New Zealand's social history. Readers will find an analysis of the impact of social movements, including the rise of feminism and the increasing presence of women in the workforce, alongside discussions on how these factors have transformed early childhood education and care.

'Politics in the Playground' uses accessible language to break down complex topics such as the transition from mid-century social progress to late 20th-century economic policies. The narrative progresses through debates over the emerging identity of young citizens from the 2000s onwards, culminating in the contemporary discourse surrounding the 'vulnerable child'. This book is essential for parents, educators, policymakers, and students alike, making it a notable addition to any library.

Invest in this crucial resource to understand the dynamics of early childhood education in Aotearoa New Zealand, its modern challenges, and the key issues affecting young children today.

Too tight
Size: 4T, Color: Under the Sea
Very very very small. My 3yo is very skinny and the 4t it is too tight on him. Can't imagine how this would fit a less skinny kid.

Long to accommodate torsos and legs
Size: 8, Color: 4p Dino
These are well made pajamas. The tops and bottoms are longer than I have seen with other brands. I love that because we buy new pajamas when my son's pajama tops are too short or when the rise on the pants gets too low. My son is 6 years old, 55 lbs, and 4'1". I bought a size 8 for him and they fit with room to grow in all directions. The shorts come down to his knees and the shoulder seams are slightly off of his shoulders. Most importantly, the rise is high enough on the shorts and the shirt covers his stomach with length to spare. He should be able to wear these for a couple of years. I don't love the designs, but my kid doesn't really care what his clothes look like, so it works for us.

Adorable, Comfortable, and Durable PJs
Size: 3, Color: Redblue4p
I bought this pajama set for my son, and it was an instant hit he loves the fun dinosaur and space designs. The fabric is 100% cotton and feels soft and breathable, perfect for bedtime. After several washes, the colors are still vibrant, and the stitching is holding up really well with no shrinkage.
