With the rising popularity of low-carbohydrate diets, you may be wondering whether whole-grain breakfasts, like oatmeal, are still a healthy option. Whole grains are fully intact with three distinct parts: the bran, endosperm, and germ. As a result, whole grains have more nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber than their processed or refined counterparts.

Oats, in particular, are high in the form of soluble fiber called beta-glucan, which is beneficial for heart health. Most experts would agree that there's plenty of room for oatmeal as part of a healthy eating plan.

Carbs

Oats provide almost 30 grams of complex carbohydrates in one cup cooked. With 4 grams of fiber and no added sugar, oats are a healthier choice than many processed breakfast cereals.2

The glycemic index of rolled oats is estimated to be about 57, and the glycemic load is 11. Oatmeal is considered to be a moderately low glycemic food. The larger the particle size of oatmeal, the lower its glycemic value. For instance, oats ground into flour produce a higher glycemic response than those in a flake form.3

Fats

Plain oats have minimal fat with 2.5 grams per serving. The fats in oatmeal are mostly polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats with very little saturated fat.1

Protein

Oats are a good source of protein, providing about 5 grams per serving. As with most plant foods, oatmeal does not offer the full range of essential amino acids required by the body. Nonetheless, oatmeal helps contribute to your daily protein requirements.

Vitamins and Minerals

Oats are a good source of manganese, a component of antioxidant enzymes, important in facilitating bone development and helping to make and break down glucose.4

Oats are also a good source of iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium.

A timely introduction for classical retrieval
Format: Paperback
Bray has written a very accessible introduction to the attributes of God, with the proper distinctions between God’s essential attributes and his relational attributes. Bray does well in showing the necessity of the essential attributes as the foundation to the manifestation of God’s relational attributes to mankind, firmly anchoring them in the biblical text. I appreciate that he provided glimpses of the historical development of the attributes, interacting with some of the objections to the essential (i.e., classical) attributes and then exposing the reader to some of the best scholarship in response to the objections. The appendix ends the book with an historical survey of the attributes in the Christian tradition. Those unfamiliar with the development of classical theism will be brought up to speed, just enough to see the rich heritage of the classical attributes of God. I will be referring those new to systematic theology or are unfamiliar with the classical doctrine of God to this introductory work. It’s a great read and desperately needed due to the construals of God being promoted in modern theology.

Great addition to my sink!
Color: Black, Color: Black
This is a great sink organizer. I like a place for everything, and to hang up our dish cloth when done using it. We had a suction cup holder for that purpose but it broke several weeks ago. When this came in I noticed the 'washcloth bar' was just as another reviewer noted....pretty useless, unless you find a way to glue it down, so I chose to just toss that piece. We hang the cloth on the front fork piece, but that is also not secure and kept falling off. The simple solution for me was using some electrical tape to secure it. Not even noticeable and now works beautifully. Love the drainage with the sloped bottom, and having a spot for all the little thing we need handy at the sink. Highly recommend!
