2LP 200 gram super-heavyweight vinyl. 'Robert (Fripp) turned up with a truck load of amps and effects, two great big stacks including delay units with a 76 second delay and played and played and played. ' Though not intended as such, in some respects Leviathan and it's creators represent between them one version of the history of British electronic music. In 1973, the curiosity of a significant chunk of the King Crimson and Roxy Music fan bases, along with an attractive price, propelled Fripp & Eno's No Pussyfooting into many thousands of homes where no such recording had previously registered a single sleeve, much less a gatefold. By the early 80s Dave Ball & Marc Almond's Soft Cell were at the forefront of a wave of synth based bands who dominated the singles and albums charts. In the 1990s, The Grid - Dave Ball (again) & Richard Norris formed a key act in what was sometimes referred to as Electronica, sometimes herded under the (almost meaningless) "Dance music" category, occasionally (equally inaccurately/narrowly) described as "ambient" music, the struggles of music industry name-taggers never quite catching either the breadth of the music involved, nor recognising - until much later - the scope of it's influence. The Grid's success - a number of hit singles and albums, including the million selling "Swamp Thing", world tours, remixes for Eno, Pet Shop Boys, Yello, Sylvian/Fripp - could find a ready audience among those for whom, by now, electronic music was part of the everyday musical fabric and commonality of experience, even as it continued to evolve and develop as a form in itself. The Grid were managed at the time (1992) by David Enthoven who had also managed King Crimson and Roxy Music from inception for many years and by now with a Sylvian/Fripp remix among their producing credits, it is no surprise that the duo and Fripp were keen to see if mutual recordings would produce interesting results - hence the arrival of the equipment described by Richard Norris above at Eastcote Studios in West London. As Norris further notes: 'Robert's craft and musicianship was slightly daunting to us at first, being from a more DIY, post punk electronic background, but we soon worked out a language to communicate in. "Make it sound like a thunderstorm... ", "I'm going to make a sound like a bomb", that kind of thing. After every track, Robert would say "Have you got any more?" and seemed to be greatly enjoying himself. He was a very generous guest'. The resulting Fripp recordings provided material for much of The Grid's second album '456' and their Top 20 follow-up album 'Evolver' A few years ago, The Grid rediscovered tapes from these sessions, including unreleased tracks they'd worked up but never completed or mixed. A set of long solo drone pieces from Fripp was discovered along with a lost track that was then remixed to become 'A Cabala Sky' by The Grid / Fripp and released as part of Bill Brewster's acclaimed 'Late Night Tales' compilation series in 2014. Further Fripp Soundscapes from the same period were added to the mix by DGM's David Singleton, which inspired The Grid to add new synths, drums, programming and effects to create the album 'Leviathan' a 2LP Inspired by the mythical whale 'Leviathan', the biggest prehistoric whale that ever lived, Norris adds 'I like Philip Hoare's book "Leviathan", which is about his obsession with whales and whale watching and the awe of coming into contact with such massive creatures. They are quite mysterious. Their brains are enormous, and we don't quite know what all the brain power is doing... A bit like Robert, really'. Having completed the album's stereo mixes, DGM suggested the music as ideal for a full 5. 1 surround mix by The Vicar. Electronic music lends itself very well to Surround Sound mixing as the listener has no fixed notion as to where any sound should emerge from. This mix features on the CD/DVD-a edition (alongside the stereo mix) and while Surround Sound is sometimes regarded as "niche" in terms of audience, the same would have been said about any form of electronic music when Fripp turned up, guitar in hand, at Eno's place in 1972. But then inquisitive musicians, even (perhaps especially) when they approach music from very different perspectives, often arrive at places that are as intriguing to an audience as they were to the participants.

A Solution to Lapbook Problems
Style: Swivel Base, Color: Silver
This is the best product I have encountered in all my days of using a laptop. I use it with a wireless keyboard, and so the screen is up in my face where I can see it well, and the keyboard in down below where I can type easily without tiring my wrists. I am delighted with it all. The stand swivels, an advantage I was not expecting to care about, and find that I do. The swivel allows me to adjust to the incoming light for better vision. That might not make sense to users of lamps, but I have a skylight and so am accommodating to the sun all day long. The swivel changes everything. Another plus is how sturdy the stand is. I have no fears of it turning over or dumping the laptop into my lap. It is clearly there to stay, and yet if I need to move it, that is easily accomplished. I tuck the entire thing behind closed doors most of the time when it is not in use, and that leaves my work space neat and tidy. There is one final advantage. I am a coffee drinker, and I have always been worried about knocking my cup over into my computer. With the stand, my computer sits above the desk top where I put my coffee, and the keyboard is on s shell below and out of the way. I still prefer to drink rather than knock over my coffee, but, hey, why not have a measure of safety also. I give this product a 10 star review if there is such a thing. It has been a real game changer for me, and now I am not regretting not purchasing a desktop machine. My laptop is absolutely perfect with this stand, and has the advantage that it goes with me when I travel. Bettie Banks

Great Stand for retina Macbook Pro 15" but one thing you have to be careful about! NEW USERS/BUYERS BEWARE!
Style: Swivel Base, Color: Silver
Great stand as other reviewers have noted. The laptop runs cooler, the ergonomics for working are much better.... I just wish ONE thing for this stand. I wish the latch that holds the computer at the bottom trackpad area (meaning the two protruding feet on the stand that are holding your laptop in place right by the trackpad) had a bit more height to it. I have noticed my laptop is almost flush with the feet of the stand, which looks nice design-wise, but makes it a bit less-than-secure. A few times, I thought I put my laptop on the stand securely, but found that a small bump would almost make the laptop slide down off that latch, meaning I did not put my laptop securely onto the stand and into the latch after all. Thank goodness I saved my Mac right before the it fell and got any damage those few times. I have one of the latest generations of the retina Macbook Pro 15", which means my computer is thus relatively thin (meaning that the height of the laptop when fully closed, from the bottom of the case to the top of the case, is really short). So if I am having trouble with it, I bet older generations of Macbook Pros that are a bit thicker, or any other laptops that are thicker, might have the same issues I have. Computers that are thin like the Macbook Air probably do not have much issue. But now that I am aware of the issue, I double-check to make sure that the latch is securely holding the laptop when placing it on the stand, so it is not that big of a problem to deal with--just NEW USERS/BUYERS PLEASE BEWARE SO YOU MAKE SURE YOUR LAPTOP DOESN'T SLIDE OFF!

Looks improved!
Style: Swivel Base, Color: Silver, Style: Swivel Base, Color: Silver
Bought this model originally in 2016 and it has held up quite well. Decided to get a newer one since some of the product images appeared to indicate some changes had been made. - the center opening with the logo is larger, better for airflow. - the circle pads on the top are also larger. - the front lip has been simplified using less materials, good choice. - the bottom bearings are noticeably smoother and quieter. Great attention to detail I think. I prefer the 360 spinning version after trying the standard one. The ability to rotate the stand is just so convenient. This is my favorite aluminum stand on here and now it’s even better! See photos and video for comparison. Old model on left.

Functional, durable, and color-matching stand for MacBook Pro
Style: Swivel Base, Color: Space Gray
I recently purchased this stand for my MacBook Pro and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The design of the stand is a perfect match for my MacBook Pro, it looks great and it fits perfectly. The stand is made of durable materials and it feels very sturdy and stable, perfect for keeping on your desk. One of the features that I appreciate the most is that it allows me to rotate my MacBook Pro 360 degrees, which is extremely convenient when I am in a meeting and need to show something on my screen to someone else. The stand also has a non-slip rubber base which provides a stable and secure grip on any surface. Additionally, the color space gray is exactly the same as the MacBook Pro, which makes it seamlessly integrate with the overall design. Even though it is not lightweight to carry around, it is designed to be kept on your desk, which makes it perfect for a workstation. In summary, I highly recommend this stand for MacBook Pro to anyone looking for a functional and durable stand that allows to rotate the screen, perfect to keep on your workstation and with a color that integrates seamlessly with the MacBook Pro.

Loved it so much I bought a second one!
Style: Swivel Base, Color: Space Gray
I have two of these bad boys: one at the office and one at home, and I've used them for a couple of years now. I love them. I pair it with a separate Bluetooth keyboard on the desk, and I can't imagine doing computer work without it anymore. Being able to elevate the screen transforms my laptop into a small PC, and I love being able to swivel it around to show a coworker what I'm working on or to just glance at the screen real quick if I'm up walking around. I've never had any stability issues with these. So long as you put it on a level surface, I think you'll be fine. The mStand360 is badass.
