MLS gaskets have increased strength because they are comprised of multiple layers of stainless steel; which also creates the ability to rebound and resist corrosion. The outer layers are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton (a flour elastomer rubber based material that is heat resistant to 250 C/ 482 F). Viton is designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and surface finishes. Smaller than the original, but works well.
When I received it, it was so small that I thought it was a toy, or maybe for some 4cyl engine. It is significantly smaller than the original one. When I looked closer, the mount holes did line up, so I tried it. I did have to get shorter mount bolts.
To my surprise, it works great! I don't know what the longevity will be, but it made it through a busy august!
Considering the price and how small it is, I might just buy a second one to keep on board. Just in case.

I was so impressed after install!! Fired right up faster that it ever has in the past, had the boat out about 8 times and CACK!!! They say they will stand behind the product and replace it, but do I risk another day ruined on the river?
