In 1997 Jean Meeus wrote Mathematical Astronomical Morsels a collection of about 60 chapters on various aspects of mathematical astronomy that were independent of one another and that could be read in any order. Each were updated versions of articles written at different times and for several different European and Canadian journals, principally Heelal, the monthly journal of the Belgian Dutch-language astronomical society ‘Vereniging voor Sterrenkunde’ (VVS).

Five years later (2002) More Mathematical Astronomical Morsels appeared with 75 chapters divided into six categories: The Moon, Eclipses and Occultations, Planetary Motions, Planetary Phenomena, On the Celestial Sphere and Varia.

Two years later (2004) Mathematical Astronomy Morsels III was published with 57 chapters divided into six categories: The Moon, Eclipses, Planetary Motions, Planetary Phenomena, On the Celestial Sphere and Varia.

Three years later (2007) Mathematical Astronomy Morsels IV appeared and Jean Meeus wrote “To our surprise, there are still more interesting subjects in the field of mathematical astronomy, whence this fourth collection of Morsels.” Morsels IV contains 68 chapters divided into six categories: The Moon, Eclipses, Occultations, Planetary Motions, Planetary Phenomena and Varia.

And now, just two years later (2009) Mathematical Astronomy Morsels V! Here Jean Meeus writes “Since the publication of our 4th Morsels book, we have accumulated a lot of new and interesting subjects in the field of mathematical astronomy, and there were enough of them to fill this fifth collection of Morsels. Apparently, an infinite number of possible topics do remain”. Morsels V contains 69 chapters divided into six categories: The Moon, Eclipses and Occultations, Planetary Phenomena and Varia. Additionally there is a cumulative Index for all five volumes along with corrections to Morsels I and IV.

Good book, mediocre edition
Format: Paperback
This review pertains to the quality of this edition's editing and construction, rather than the content of the book itself. Rest assured that the text itself remains a valuable piece of introductory theory. The book is fairly well constructed, with paper and a binding that is sturdy enough for general use. However, my copy had several manufacturing errors including folded over pages being stuck into the binding. In addition, there are several misspelled words throughout the text and some obvious typos (missing letters, incorrect capitalization and punctuation) that did not majorly impact the readability of the text, but were, nevertheless, annoying. Considering the low price of this edition the manufacturing errors are hardly a big deal, but I would have preferred the text itself to have been treated with more care and respect while being prepared for printing.

thoughts on Xi Jinping
Format: Kindle
This book was highly organized and very easy to comprehend. I have formed a much better understanding of Xi Jinping and where he is taking China. Although I feel he has been thoughtful and successful in some areas such as improving China economically, I don’t feel his autocratic approach will succeed in the long run when more Chinese people will demand to be heard. Just as Mao thought didn’t outlast Mao, Xi thought will not outlast Xi.

The Book I Meant to Write
Format: Kindle
While doing my master’s degree in international relations, I completed a master’s thesis on Xi Jinping Thought (which, like the authors, I shortened to Xi Thought). I considered writing a book on the subject since there wasn’t a lot in English, but I no longer feel the need. This book fills every gap that was present. Well written and informative, it is the quintessential English source in Xi Thought. The authors put Xi’s political thought in a consultative Leninist paradigm and define that context clearly. Each chapter elucidates a little more and puts Xi thought front and center in China’s current transformation. I consider it a must read.

Great read and most importantly very topical
Format: Audiobook
The writers use published work of Xi and Chinese government official statements to describe the true nature of this most important Chinese leader who will have profound impact on the total world.Like it or not it is essential for all of us to really what he is preparing his nation for the vision he has.Americans are naive and totally ignorant.

Pure anti-China propaganda
Format: Audiobook
From the first few sentences they get the name of the ruling party of China wrong and it only gets worse from there. This is purely a work of western propaganda and in no way academic or objective. I've studied China for many years. You will find nothing of value from this book. All of their achievements are minimized or disregarded entirely. You will also notice that very little data is presented if any at all.
