About Nylon Sutures
1 Suture nonabsorbable nylon suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. While it is not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the nylon in vivo may result in gradual loss of up to 20% of its tensile strength per year.
