Discover the compelling insights of Arlie Russell Hochschild's latest work, Stolen Pride, as she embarks on a profound exploration of pride and politics in Appalachia. This thought-provoking book delves deep into the 'pride paradox' that has influenced the political landscape of America, particularly in regions like Pikeville, Kentucky. Hochschild, an acclaimed author known for her previous bestseller, Strangers in Their Own Land, offers readers a compelling narrative that connects economic hardships, cultural loss, and the powerful political rhetoric that resonates with communities facing difficult times.Through rich storytelling and in-depth research, Stolen Pride shines a light on the struggles of blue-collar men in the heart of Appalachia—the whitest and second-poorest congressional district in the United States. Hochschild's on-the-ground reporting reveals the palpable sense of loss experienced by this proud community as they grapple with the departure of coal jobs and the escalating drug crisis.
Join Hochschild as she captures poignant moments in small churches, roadside diners, and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, introducing us to unforgettable individuals who navigate their lives amid political upheaval. Stolen Pride is not just a book; it’s an essential read for anyone seeking to understand the complex dynamics of pride, identity, and the socio-political landscape in contemporary America, making it a must-have addition for those interested in sociology and political science.

Well written and worth the price!
Format: Paperback
Learning C# by Developing Games with Unity 6 is an excellent resource for anyone looking to dive into game development while building a solid foundation in C#. Harrison Ferrone’s writing is clear, approachable, and well-structured, making complex concepts easy to understand—even for beginners. Even though this book is about learning C#, it also touches on game design, lighting and animation. I especially appreciated how the book balances coding fundamentals with Unity-specific techniques, creating a seamless learning experience. Whether you're new to programming or just new to Unity, this book is a fantastic starting point. Highly recommended for aspiring game developers!

funny and heartwarming
Format: Paperback
What an utter delight, page after page. Funny and heartwarming, it gives June a redemption arc almost as awesome as Zuko's. In the hands of bad writers, June could easily be shallow and one-note. She gets wonderful depth and richness of character development, and of course Iroh is everything fans adore.

A fun read for fans of Uncle Iroh.
Format: Paperback
This is an engaging book for Uncle Iroh and June the Bounty Hunter fans. There is a very noble moment in the book where Uncle Iroh apologizes to June for his inappropriate behavior in her introductory episode and the rest of the book addresses his past as a fire nation general and how he is viewed by some of the people of Ba Sing Se for his actions.
