In order to form an effective defense against the long coastline of the Soviet Union, the Soviet Red Sea Army approved the preliminary design project ZhDAU TM-1-180 in April 1931, that is, the railway mobile shore gun project. The project was mainly developed by the Design Bureau of Leningrad Metal Factory, which was completed at the end of 1934 until March of the following year. They were tested in the Artillery Research Institute (NIAP) and installed in 1936 after improving many defects of the earlier models.
The gun of this type of train gun adopts the B1P 180mm gun of the same model as the "Red Caucasus" cruiser. The design index of this type of gun is 1000M/S with a maximum bore pressure of 400MPA.
There are two kinds of artillery shells: when launching an ordinary projectile weighing 97.5KG, the maximum range can reach 38.6KM, which is much larger than that of ordinary barrel guns during World War II. In 1938, a sub-caliber ultra-long-range projectile weighing 18KG was also developed. Its diameter is 110mm, its initial velocity is 1550M/S and its range is 90KM. In 1941, there were procurement records, but there were no relevant combat records.
The total length of the model is 298mm and the height is 71 mm. It can be made into two modes: driving state and launching state.
