The Happy Tongue Hanging Cheek Snaffle from Bombers Bits is designed with a medium port to create space for the tongue. This relieves tongue pressure and allows the horse to relax.
This bit is often suitable for horses with sensitive or large tongues. Signs of sensitivity include the horse shaking his head when bit pressure is applied, putting the tongue out of the side of the mouth or putting the tongue over the bit.
The hanging, or drop, cheek has an Eggbutt-like ring at the mouthpiece for the rein, with an upper cheek that has a ring at its end, to which the cheekpiece of the bridle is attached.
The mouthpiece does not slide on its ring resulting in only slight poll pressure. The cheekpieces lie flat against the horse's face, and the mouthpiece is quite fixed in the mouth and concentrates pressure on the bars.
The blue sweet iron mouthpiece promotes salivation and acceptance of the bit. The material oxidises easily, warming up quickly in the horse's mouth and producing a sweet taste.
This bit is available in 13cm (approx 5in), 13.5cm (approx 5 1/4in), 14cm (approx 5 1/2in) or 14.5cm (approx 5 3/4in).
