This is a striking live-edge board of Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii), a highly valued hardwood native to the Pacific Northwest. The wood displays the classic warm peach and rose hues of madrone heartwood, complemented by a swirling, organic grain pattern that adds movement and visual interest. One full-length live edge adds rustic charm, with bark that is well-attached and showcases classic scaly-and-smooth madrone bark textures.

The board's width ranges from 8" at center to about 9.5" on the ends. It has been surfaced on all sides other than the live edge. The top and bottom surfaces have been sanded with 100 grit. It has been carefully air-dried to a stable 10–12% moisture content, making it well-suited for indoor woodworking. There are two knots in the board. One is closed and has several open cracks; the other is a fully-open branch penetration style of knot. You may wish to leave open or to fill with epoxy. These are typical in madrone and contribute to its natural character. The grain swirls beautifully around these features.

This board offers excellent versatility -- ideal for use as an art plaque, statement shelf, charcuterie board, or small furniture feature. It could also be resawn or cut down for a variety of other uses such as segmented turning, knife scales, or contrasting strips in cutting boards.

Note: In the photos, the last one is of the bottom of the board. The darker blotches on it are water from the moss -- not a defect in the board.  :)

First I honestly only wanted the steering wheel cover but couldn't find it for sale that way. It comes in sealed bag. The pieces are flat and bunched when taken out. I had a dog brush that I use to keep my fluffy slippers from getting matted and used it to fluff the pieces out. yes they shedded while brushing but not too much. The texture of the smaller two pieces were soft the steering wheel was soft also but had some spots that felt slightly rough. The piece for the brake slid on easily. The piece for the gear shift fit but was pressing against the gear shift button on the left side which kept my car from cutting off so I had to "modify" the piece. Steering wheel piece does still shed slightly but not enough to bother me. Over all happy with purchase yellow was vibrant and stands out. Would recommend.

Recap... After a few months... The wheel is still Flufftabulous... There's a lot of lint accumulation on the dash and areas around the wheel but nothing like the shedding of my previous wheel. If this one ever wears completely out which i doubt... I'd definitely re-order. It arrived the next day as promised. Vacuum sealed packaging so I opened it and brushed them out. There was minimal shedding while brushing. I was relieved since this is my 2nd fuzzy wheel ... the first was more of a shag carpet type of fur which was fluffy and fabulous but left tons of lint and dust bunnies. After 2 days there's been minimal to no shedding. It was easy to put on my standard sized steering wheel and fits snug and secure NO SLIPPING! I only gave it 4 starts because the gear shift cover could be fluffier. We'll see how it all holds up in GA heat. I'm happy with it so far, if anything changes .. I'll be back. I almost forgot... I included a pic to show the view of my dashboard isn't compromised at the position I have my s.w. in which is the highest level. If you like your wheel down in your lap, your dash won't be visible.
