Madrona Block Md56 1.4" x 1.4" x 11.4" 0.5 lbs. This is a beautiful spindle of Pacific Madrone wood with a juvenile branch inclusion. It's not clear how far the branch penetrates -- it may taper off quickly and turn away, or it may be present in your finished turning. The spindle has light peach color with darker peach undertones, and the branch inclusion is a lighter yellow with tark and red hues around it. Madrona tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, and we think you will be very pleased with this piece. This is a fully air-dried blank, measuring under 10% moisture content. This size of spindle is useful for a range of turning, carving, or other woodworking projects. Popular projects from this size spindle: game calls, bottle stoppers, shot glasses, tool handles, knife scales, toothpick holders, drawer pulls, honey dippers, magic wands. About the Tree This Madrona tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and was harvested in the course of good forest management. It was standing a while before being harvested, so there is a bit of spalting throughout that adds to its beauty. Not all pieces have spalting, but quite a few have black-line spalting and added color from mineralization streaks. |

Excellent tray

This is an exceptionally high-quality tray. The design was well thought out and it looks amazing. Firstly, I was very impressed by the packaging and attention to detail, from the box to the lovely wrapping. I purchased the brown and the tray is beautiful with the two-tone. I love the tree imprint on the inside. It looks very rich and the leather has a great feel to it. I also like that the logo was imprinted at the bottom/back. This would make a great gift. Great product!
