The durable deer leather is applied on the outside while cow leather is used lavishly inside. The leather will fit better and look more glossy over time and through its use.

- Proprietary lacquering technique involves the use of hand-cut stencils laid over dyed deerskin that is centuries old and was imperative to the look of the Samurai. 

- Heavy pigments give each and every piece a deep hue. Known as the Fusube technique, this foundation which is created by setting deerskin on a cylindrical frame, which is then smoked to create their natural color.
