Canada pre-war aircraft manufacturing industry was small and faced an enormous challenge on the eve of World War II. Eventually, it produced over 15,000 aircraft, many to be used as trainers in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). The BCATP inspired U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt’s famous description of Canada as “the aerodrome of democracy” and became the world’s largest and most successful scheme to train aircrews for military service. Almost overnight, the plan produced airfields all across Canada, many of them still in use today, and helped create a modern, mass-produced aircraft industry in this country.

The modern era of air transport in northern Canada began in earnest during the 1950’s driven by a resource exploration and development boom and the building of the distant early warning radar system for the military. Modern bush pilots continued on in the best traditions of their predecessors, operating from dirt runways or landing “off strip” on the frozen tundra in aircraft equipped with skis or high floatation “balloon” tires.

Since aviation’s early years, Canadians have been devoted to opening up and defending this huge and rugged land, taking leading roles as flyers, designers, and builders of aircraft.

Check the size you need .
Size: Large
It did not meet my needs only because of the size. More suited for 8.5×11. I was looking for a 5x7 format solution. At bit pricy.

Good comfort, quality and classy
Size: 8.5, Color: Black/Ivory
’ve been wearing Cole Haan dress sneakers for work and travel, and they strike a really good balance between professional and comfortable. The biggest advantage is how lightweight they feel compared to traditional dress shoes. Most styles have sneaker-like cushioning, so you can walk or stand all day without your feet getting destroyed. The design is also versatile and look polished enough for business casual outfits but still casual enough to wear with jeans. They work especially well in office environments where a full formal shoe feels too stiff or outdated.

New Favorite Work Shoe
Size: 9.5, Color: Black/Ivory
These Cole Haan Grand Crosscourt Daily shoes have quickly become my new favorite work shoes. They’re incredibly comfortable right out of the box, with just the right amount of cushioning and support to get through long days on my feet. I love that they look sleek and professional while still feeling casual enough to wear anywhere. The build quality is top-notch—durable materials and solid construction that make them feel like they’ll last a long time. Overall, these shoes strike the perfect balance between comfort, style, and practicality. I can honestly say I look forward to wearing them every day. Highly recommend for anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet but doesn’t want to sacrifice style.

Well Made for price and style
Size: 10.5, Color: Black/Ivory
Great fit and very flexible. I also recommend buying shoe savers when purchasing this product. To help with toes wrinkles. The pair itself is stylish and very comfortable. Any purchase of this product will be greatly satisfied.
