Besides being long toted as two of the most iconic and sought after pieces of vintage gear, both the RE-201 and CE-1 are noted for their distinct analog preamps almost as well as their respective delay and chorus sounds. With the popularity of these preamp flavors still very prevalent today, the BP-1W delivers these vintage tones with the excellent build and parts quality only found in Waza Craft pedals.
The BP-1W is simple to use, easy to dial in, and has the potential to be a mainstay on a player's board. Controls for Level and Gain of course dial in volume and saturation, while a 3-way mini toggle selects between three preamp modes.
"NAT" or Natural mode provides a flat clean boost with minimal coloration, "RE" captures the warm, fat preamp sound of the RE-201 Space Echo, while "CE" introduces the bright, bell-like preamp sound of the Boss CE-1. The natural compression and hidden sonic qualities of either respective vintage unit are represented in the RE and CE modes, delivering various flavors of organic boost and distortion.
On the back, the BP-1W offers two high-quality buffer circuit options. Players can switch between a standard buffer for signal purity or a vintage buffer for a warmer tone with a smooth dynamic response. The standard buffer is active when the pedal is bypassed. Connecting a guitar with passive pickups directly to the BP-1W's input maximizes the vintage buffer's benefits.
