Maw Sit Sit is extremely rare, and was found only in a single location in Burma. It was discovered in 1963 and was all but gone by 1970. It is a very hard and durable takes an excellent polish, and is a popular gem among collectors (but is not readily available because of its extreme rarity). Maw Sit Sitâs superb green color is due to Chromium, and the black swirls are Ureyite. This combination creates specimens with flowing veins of green and black, and the dramatic contrast of bright green and black is unique in the gem world. The slices I am offering represent, for the most part, the highest quality of this gem material. Most slices have been cut thin because of the extreme scarcity and the inherent durability of the material. Finished gems of Maw Sit Sit are quite rare and expensive in this quality, and my old-stock supply is very limited. Cutting services for these slices are available by arrangement. This is stone #11. It weighs 10 grams and measures approximately 1 X 1 3/4 inches X 5.5 mm in thickness. It was photographed wet to show the stunning color of the polished gem. Please check out my other slabs of rare and beautiful stones, such as Tiffany stone, Oregon picture Jasper, Graveyard Point Plume Agate, and Turkish Stick Agate, as well as my cut stones of these and other materials, including top grade, natural, untreated Turquoise - many from rare or extinct mines!!Shipping Notes
