This pair of Yak Bone Skull Beads is more than a simple mala accessory — it is a profound spiritual tool, hand-carved in the Tibetan tradition to serve as a powerful reminder of impermanence (Anicca) and the preciousness of human life on the path to enlightenment.

Key Features of These Sacred Beads

  • Authentic Material: Crafted from genuine, naturally blessed yak bone, a traditional and sacred material in Tibetan Buddhist practice.
  • Profound Symbolism: The skull (Kapala) motif is a central Memento Mori symbol, representing the impermanence of all worldly things and the urgency of spiritual practice.
  • Artisan Craftsmanship: Each bead is individually hand-carved by skilled Tibetan craftsmen, ensuring unique character and spiritual integrity.
  • Perfect Fit: Designed as marker beads for a 6-10mm Tibetan Buddhist mala, seamlessly integrating into your prayer and meditation practice.
  • Direct from the Source: Sourced directly from Hepo Town, Baiyu County—a renowned birthplace of authentic Tibetan handicrafts.

Deep Spiritual Meaning

In Tibetan Buddhism, the skull bead is not a symbol of fear, but of liberation. It is a "Memento Mori" for the spiritual seeker—a constant, tactile reminder to live with awareness, compassion, and purpose. Incorporating these beads into your mala helps to:

  • Awaken a deeper understanding of life's transient nature.
  • Focus the mind during meditation on what is truly essential.
  • Inspire diligence and urgency in one's spiritual practice.
  • Connect to ancient lineages of wisdom and contemplation.

"Contemplating impermanence is the foundation of all Dharma practice." – Tibetan Buddhist Teaching

Frequently Asked Questions

A: They are used as "marker" or "spacer" beads, typically placed at specific intervals (like after every 27 beads) on a 108-bead mala to help count rounds of mantra silently.

Q: Is the yak bone ethically sourced?
A> Yes. The bone is a natural, respectfully sourced byproduct, in keeping with traditional Tibetan crafting practices that utilize available materials with reverence.

Q: Are both beads in the pair identical?
A> As each is handmade, there may be slight, beautiful variations in the carving, making your pair uniquely yours. The size and function are consistent.

Comfortable yoga mat
Color: Blue Mist, Style: 1/2 inch, Color: Blue Mist, Style: 1/2 inch
I was due for a new yoga mat as I practice every day anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. Over the years I've taken to liking the 1/2" thick mats with the grip lines. They're just easier on the joints (two acl reconstructions and a spinal fusion from T2 to L2) and a plate in my wrist. This mat is great. I like the design and color, the thickness is perfect, no smell AT ALL which is both rare and awesome. I used it today and found it comfortable. I also like the 72" length because I'm about 5'9 so I'm not hanging off the mat. I've been practicing yoga for over 15 years and have my CYT 200 even though I don't teach, and I would highly recommend this mat.

Thick/Fluffy
Color: Violet Haze, Style: 1/2 inch
I’ve really been enjoying this yoga mat. It’s fluffy and thick, which gives great support for my knees during certain poses and stretches. The length is also perfect, especially for someone on the taller side. I chose the light purple color, and it matches the pictures perfectly. As someone who practices yoga regularly and also uses it for stretching in my home gym, I think this mat is a great choice for both comfort and support.

Great for hand pain while working out.
Color: Wild Spruce, Style: 1/2 inch
Not squeaky, non slip. Much thicker and comfier than a normal yoga mat. Only thing is wearing sneakers on it, it might give you some more squeak. Just wipe down with a wet wipe after class. Keep it in my car. Purple color is perfect- muted yet a statement. Goes with all my clothes/towels.

Lightweight yoga mat
Color: Rose, Style: 1/2 inch
The yoga mat is not one of those heavy-duty ones. It’s quite light, but it tends to crease easily and takes a long time to return to its original shape after being rolled or folded.

Great Mat!
Color: Boysenberry, Style: 1/2 inch
I’ve been using this mat 4+ days a week for 2.5 months and it is durable and comfortable. I use it for yoga, sculpt, and Pilates. It’s held up during burpees, pushups, and plenty other moves that I half expected would tear the mat, but it’s held up great. It also gets wiped down with a disinfectant after each use. Still like new. Great price too!
