Vintage smoky glass tumbler from one of the most iconic Minimalist design series. Design by Aino Aalto. Rare tumbler 4056 made in 1930s - 1940s. 

The iconic early modernist glassware series Bölgeblick (Wave glance in English) marked the beginning of contemporary tableware design. Created by one of the first female designers, Aino Aalto, for the Karhula glassworks in Finland, production began in 1932. Interesting that Aino's surname Aalto means Wave in Finnish. 

The series is distinguished by its geometric contours and unique stepped forms that are distinctly atectonic.

In 1936 Bölgeblick was awarded the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennial, the most prestigious design exhibition of its time.

Karhula - Iittala glassworks, Finland. Height: 5.5 cm. It has traces of use corresponding with the age of a piece, and a single nuance on the bottom - please, refer to the photos.
